Dan,

Sorry, I can't recommend a doctor or clinic. However, doing a

www.google.com search on

+dark + " foamy urine "

brings up a number of web pages which suggest hepatitis, a gallbladder

problem leading to obstruction of bile, or a kidney problem. A kidney

condition named IgAN can be associated with joint problems.

Sincerely, Harald

Dan,

If you have had recent labs, was a uric acid level done? If so, was

it high. (I'm thinking probably it was not high, or they doctors

would have mentioned this to you.)

I developed extreme pain in the small joints of my toes where they

connect to my foot. Neither of my doctors had a clue why. It

persisted quite a while, and I was about to get a handicap sticker

because it was most difficult to walk to shop, etc.

Out of curiosity, I looked up " Gout " in Dr. Balch

book, " Prescription for Nutritional Healing. " Even though my

doctors had said my uric acid was normal, I wanted to learn about

gout. In this section, Dr. Balch said that certain medications can

cause a buildup of uric acid crystals and so can red meat. I was on

Minocin and had been for about a year, and it had helped my

rheumatic illness so much, I decided to give up all red meat and

pork, for I certainly was not inclined to give up my med. Every day

for about 7 to 10 days, the pain in my feet just faded away. I ate

salmon and tuna occasionally, along with white chicken and turkey,

and vegetable sources of protein. On a rare occasion I would have a

very small portion of red meat. This really solved the problem for

me. Of course I was eating lots of vegetables and a few fruits

along with the above.

More recently I've learned I apparently have a liver detoxification

issue, apparently genetic, that doesn't allow toxic substances in

meds, foods, etc. to be broken down and eliminated from the body.

This buildup can cause all sorts of things.

It could be if you quit eating meat and did a series of liver

cleanses, and perhaps some vegetable juicing, and an occasional

fast, the problems you are having could be greatly helped. If you

are very ill, you should always consult a healthcare professional

before doing a strenuous fast. I've read that people with arthritis

often have dramatic pain relief using fasting.

Good luck,

bg

Hi Dan! Geoff here.

>In the mean time my urine is usually dark and foamy.

" Foamy urine " can be an indicator of excessive protein (for you at this

particular time, not always or forever.) It might be worthwhile to try

going vegan for a week with few or no nuts or grains, and drinking lots of

filtered water to see what comes out. Think lettuce and carrots.

That's often an easy and simple fix. It could be too that doing that you'll

find a lot of your symptoms ease up.

Geoff

P.S. Remember, rabbits are soft and furry -- girls like soft and furry.

Dan,

You wrote:

> In the mean time my urine is usually dark and foamy.

I forgot to mention... you did not describe what you mean by " dark " . Dark

as in deep amber or yellow-to-amber and smelly, or brown, dark

brown-to-black, reddish?

The colors and scent are important. Variations on yellow and stronger smell

tend to lean toward dehydration as the main culprit; red streaks, etc., lean

toward an injury or expression of blood, the brighter red the blood, the

later it entered the urine stream, conversely, the darker the blood the

earlier it entered the urine stream. Expressions of blood can come from the

natural passing of stones which is usually but not always painful, and other

midline injuries.

The easiest, and perhaps safest place to start is the food/water route as

suggested earlier, but regardless check with your health care practitioner.

After all, none of this, from me nor anyone else, should be considered

anything other than a lay persons uneducated ideas and certainly not medical

advice.

Hey, Dan-Sally here.

Welcome to a group no one wants to be a member of:)! But great place for

info, help and hope..

You sound like me (except it was balls of both feet in constant pain)-From

92-99 I had foot problems and migrating elbow, hand, etc. problems. Said I

had fibro, beginnings of osteo-mostly made me feel I was crazy. Was

seropositive for RA in '99 and then had the horrifying swelling, joint

erosion, hellish, can't sleep, walk, use my hands (even hurt to pull socks

on) PAIN!! Also, Dx w/gout in '97. Do think I have Lyme's as I had a tick

bite in sprng '92 and July '92 started going downhill!

Finally in 99 Dx with Reactive Arthritis-reacting to infection. You may

have a UTI (urinary tract infection), which is common with Reactive, aka

Reiter's Syndrome. Also common is to be Dx w/gout. I do have pseudogout

(calcium crystals vs the uric acid crystals in gout)-And I KNOW because I

had my wrist joint tapped 3 painful x by my rheumie in the DC area. If you

read Dr. Brown's book written by Henry Scammell, " The New Arthritis

Breakthrough " , you'll see it's pretty common to have multi types of

arthritis-and yes, all of them pretty much suck!!

Before I would torture myself with any kind of diet (people with pseudogout

and gout FLARE when trying to change diets!!) I'd get to an AP (antibiotic

protocol) doc or talk to my GP about doing the AP...

I went to Dr. Gabe Mirkin in the DC area-He is in Kensington, MD (1 exit N

of the Bethesda Naval Hospital and the NIH when on the beltway, where our

famous Dr. Brown did some work) and his web site is www.drmirkin.com.

Address is 10901 Connecticut Ave, Ste 100, Ken., MD 20895.

Ph-301-942-7900, Fax-301-942-9837. You can download his AP (for a $10

fee)-its about 10 pp and you can have a doctor's AP in your hot little hand

for your doc-worked for me.

Good luck, Dan-I'm very sporadic on e-mail but other regulars know about

this stuff:)

bg replies: I developed the painful foot symptoms you have

described and could hardly walk for a while. I discovered the

answer to the pain when I read Dr. Balch's writings on Gout

in " Prescription for Nutritional Healing. " I had been on AP for

over a year when the foot problem developed. Dr. Balch suggested

that the tetracycline family of drugs can cause a build up of uric

acid (or crystals too, I guess), and red meat and pork can cause

this same type build up. I was doing so well on AP, I was not about

to discontinue it, but did quit eating the meat -- AND every day for

about 7-10 days, the pain just went away and did not come back

UNLESS I experimented with eating the red meat and pork again

regularly.

I'm also pretty sure that I have liver detoxification inabilities

which let all of the by-products, sludge, etc. build up in my liver

and these toxins are sent throughout the body. Finding ways to help

detox the liver seems to be an answer for us who have these

problems. Anyway, it certainly felt good to get rid of that

horrible pain in the feet -- and especially the toes where they

connect with the foot.

there are 25 mcg of mercury in each flu shot.

Try Dr.Mercola.com

God, how stupid are people, isn't it obvious that mercury is toxic

no matter what you call it or how you put it in the body?!
