Guest guest
Thanks Marla I just feel that I cannot get enough information. I love to root around on all the DS sites. I belong to Dr K, OsteoDS. DS postop problems, and ohDS, SF site and DS site. Love to read them all. There is so much info out there and help if you need it. The SF site posts their minutes after each monthly meeting You know what would be cool if all Docs would Video their meetings and. put them on U Tube or something like that. A DS video site. Guest guest
Just one question Marla, where are your pants? You mentioned everything but pants. I had to laugh and then kid you about it. Those people are nuts to be laying around in bathing suits in 29 degree weather. Heck I want it to be 90. I can't even imagine me getting into a hot tub with the outside temp that low. I have never been to Florida, so no help there. Hope you have loads of fun anyway. Pearl For those of you approaching the five year anniversary of the DS and you are wondering if the DS truly still works just try a cereal bowl of potato chips and see the DS results. You are right back to the famous DS floater poops. Somehow I find that comforting. Guess it has been years since I had potato chips. We are in Orlando and have been since New Years Eve. We have mostly just slept. The freezing weather broke the all time record here on this date. It is 29 degrees and we just walked to the pool and there are crazy people in swim suits laying in the sun and swimming in the pools. Most of the guys are all in the hot tubs. Me? I have on under wear, a camisole, a shirt, a sweater, and a jacket. I have on wool socks and tennis shoes. I think they paid so much money to be at this resort that they are just sucking it up and doing all the things they planned on in the first place. We have walked around the lake and it was so cold it only took 12 minutes. That is moving for me. We are going to the Arabian Nights at 6 p.m. where they have horses and a dinner show. We rented a car for these three days. In the past we have gone to Sea World, Universal Studios, the Kennedy Space Center but we haven't been to Epcot. Anyone been there recently? Is it worth it? Guest guest
Marla A tip for when you have to be where it is cold. Use those stick on heat packs! Something like the Thermacare heatwraps. I'm fond of the neck and shoulder ones to keep me warm. Hand warmers in the pocket also help keep you tummy area warm. Toe warmers...do I need to say more? I went around N.Y. once during the snow, everyone froze and I was toasty warm. Epcot Center??? It was fun for the kids to find the spots to have their books stamped, they were on a mission. Otherwise??? I don't remember much about it. Hugs, Jo > but we haven't been to Epcot. Anyone been there recently? Is it worth it? >

Guest guest
wow marla... you are brave.  betsy  Here is something strange. I had a TT and brachioplasty on 10-07. When I had my thigh lift January 20, 2009 the plastic surgeon made some corrections to my TT scar above my pubis bone. Today, and the last couple days a bumpy spot on the scar broke open showing a tiny opening. Upon checking it out it leaked a little body fluid and blood. Today it still had a black looking spot. It dawned on me that it was a surgical knot. I lighted a match and sterilized a needle, put tweezers in peroxide, enlarged the tiny hole, put the tweezers in and pulled out a large knot!! Does this ever stop? No pain so it wasn't a big deal.  Marla WA State

Guest guest
Hi Marla! Sometimes, I think it never stops, although my open wound has finally healed (after more than 5 years and 5-6 surgeries to take out suture material). I commiserate with you for having this happen after so long. Sometimes our bodies just do not want that suture material inside. Even after my final surgery (October 2009), two sutures came out the healing open wound. Odd stuff happens. Hugs and blessings, Ann put the tweezers in and pulled out a large knot!! Guest guest
Marla, That sounds like my dentist, Dr. Klein but he is in Encinitas. What is the name of the Doc in Carlsbad? It may only be a few miles closer but a few miles is still closer. :-) Thanks! Liz P. > > Well, today is the warmest on our S. California trip. Guest guest
Congratulations Marla! To: ds_friends_keshishian Sent: Tue, February 8, 2011 8:14:32 PMSubject: Marla Tomorrow is my sixth (6) anniversary of having the DS. I have had zero complications and it has helped change my life. It enabled me to get both my knees replaced which completed the transformation. At dinner tonight I lamented that six years ago tonight I drank my last Diet Pepsi. Damn, I still miss Diet Pepsi! Luckily, there are not many Pepsi trucks driving around in the woods so my life is made easier in that respect. I would like to lose the ten pound regain but am not driven. But, I do want to tell those of you of a certain age that I have been helped sleeping at night by buying a self-hypnosis tape to start exercising. I have not exercised since starting to listen to this at bed time because I have had a head cold but I do listen to the relaxation part of it (about 19 minutes of the 20 minute tape) and it seems to clear my mind of worry and stress so I am able to fall asleep. If I didn't feel so crummy from the cold (a virus as Ron has it also) I would be down at the gym. I think about exercising all the time so in that respect the tape is working. I just downloaded it directly to my computer and iPod for $17.98. I am hopeful this cold will be over soon and I can get back to a routine. Also, I have noticed some complacency lately about taking my vitamins. So, I brought out my old forms I used to follow every day that has a check off list for all my vitamins and supplements and meds. It put me back on track. My labs must be okay because I have not heard back from Dr. Keshishian's office. Marla WA State 2-9-
Guest guest
Marla, Congrats on the 6 year anniversary. My DS surgery was 1/25/05. The past 6 years have flown by. I, too, had both knees replaced. Am off all meds that I used to take prior to surgery. You mentioned a list you used to use when taking your supplements. Would you share with me? I too am having trouble taking all the supplements. I'm due for my blood work and I know it will be out of sink.... Haven't had any trouble or commplications since surgery. Just alot of energy and wanting to do everything at one time.... The only thing I have trouble with is sleeping any longer than 3 or 4 hours a nite....I have no problem falling asleep, but staying asleep is difficult. I have recently started medication classes and hopefully that will help. Anyone out there thinking of having the DS surgery, go for it. It will change your live in ways you never thought of. Dr. K and the DS saved my life. I will always be grateful to him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1.1.
