Can't help you with a journal article, but the book " The Training of

the Weightlifter " by R.A. Roman is tremendously helpful and has a very

useful progression of exercises for training the weightlifter.

Hi ,

From my limited knowledge there are several methods

for teaching Olympic weightlifting and they are

described in The Encyclopedia of Weightlifting by Art

Dreschler (Sp?), he shows methods used by the

Russians, Bulgarians, as well as the US team. I also

remember Jim Schmidt writing articles for Milo to do

with the teaching process.

I hope this helps you.

> Hello All

<<<This is my first post and I am wondering if anyone from the group

can help me out. I am looking for journal articles that refer to the

proper or most efficient way to teach weightlifting. I am doing a

paper on this for a motor learning class at school.

I have been searching through the supertraining archives to see what

I could find but I have not had time to go through them all. I have

also found 4 articles in the Soviet Sports Review but I do not know

if my professor will allow me to use them.>>>>

***In addition, to 's suggestion I would recommend the following

resources:

*Last chapter of Supertraining (Siff, 2002)

*Chapter 4 of AN Vorobyev's " Textbook of Weightlifting " , 1978. He

refers to work carried out by Druzhinin (reverse order).

*Chapter 2 of 'The Weightlifting Encyclopedia' by A Drechsler.

*Chapter 1 of Ajan and Baroga's book - they refer to work carried out

by Abajiev (1974) - the technique required for maximal lifts is

different from those used with lighter loads.

Hope that helps

Good luck with your paper.

Coach Ian King's " How To Teach Strength Training Exercises "

is an excellent resource and should prove worthy of you paper and your

career.

http://www.kingsports.net/detail.asp?Product_ID=KSIBK5

Since this is for school and you may not have time to wait for shipping, you

may want to consider becoming a member of http://coachking.com I know you

can get an electronic version of " How To Teach Strength Training Exercises "

No, this is not a paid endorsement for Coach King. :) I just highly

recommend his material for anyone serious about a career in the physical

preparation field.

You can search the NCSA Journals on line

http://nsca.allenpress.com/nscaonline/?request=search-simple

Here are two examples I found. With NSCA membership you can access the

articles.

If you are not a member, I'm sure your school receives the Journals. Search

online and then get them from the library or maybe your strength coach or

professor.
