Guest guest
Hi, Has anyone got any info please on whether I can still take LDN while pregnant and as it was not planned whether it matters that I was taking LDN when I became pregnant? Thanks Diane --- In low dose naltrexone , " arzucidl " <arzucidl@y...> wrote: > What about pregnancy and using of ldn. Is anybody who has an > experiences? Guest guest
Hi Diane, Earlier in the year we had many discussions about this issue. What was best gathered is the mothers to be would stop the use of LDN. The amazing thing is that they would usually not have symptoms (for MS, I am not sure what you are taking LDN for) during their pregnancies or while they were nursing. The best we could attribute this to was hormones. I would not worry about already having LDN. That is done already, and most likely it will not have any effect on the fetus. But if planning a pregnancy it might be best to stop ahead of time just to be 100% sure. Guest guest
Oh, one more theory on possibly why pregnant and nursing women do not seem to have exacerbations, is that there is something in the prenatal vitamins that may be effective. If you intend to breast feed then do NOT resume taking the LDN until you are completely done with breast feeding.
Guest guest
I wasn't around for those discussions but would be inclined to agree with Aletha here. Also some autoimmune diseases have been reported to remit at times during pregnancy perhaps due to a lowered autoimmunity during fetal presence. http://depts.washington.edu/rheum/faculty/nelson.htm Best Wishes, Josh > Hi Diane, > > Earlier in the year we had many discussions about this issue. Guest guest
Thanks for your help, it has helped put my mind to rest. Guest guest
It has been linked to hormonal changes, notably a hormone called estriol. That is why one alternative treatment for ms in women is 8mg of estriol. Of course you must get your hormones checked regularly with any kind of hormone therapy. It has also been shown in many studies that supplementation with natural testosterone benefits us because we are almost always at the low end of the spectrum or worse, have none at all. That also puts people with ms in a higher risk category for heart disease or osteop[orosis. Guest guest
, I'm not sure if you can take it WHILE you're pregnant, but I do know that LDN is now being used to help with fertility. My step sister is considering using it to help her get pregnant (I guess that's something that the child bearing aged women may want to keep in mind!) If I can dig out the information on LDN as a fertility drug, I'll post it. Congrats ! Bobbi [low dose naltrexone] LDN & pregnancy I went on the website to see if LDN can be taken during pregnancy but because there have been no studies, they don’t advise it. Does anyone know anything further on this subject? (yes, I found out Christmas eve through a home-pregnancy test and I’ve only been on ldn for about 3 weeks. So, I did stop taking it and will confirm with blood test this week, but I want to be safe than sorry. Of course I couldn’t call the MD because of the festive Christmas time, so that’s why I’m searching here.). Merry Christmas to everyone! J. Baillargeon, RD, LDN Positive Nutrition P.O.
