Guest guest
Hello everybody, well guess I am still at the stage of making observations of my grandson since his school did tests and diagnosed him " high " on the autism/aspergers chart. So I will share them here. Went to his house on Sat. his mom was cleaning out the garage and stuff was all over the driveway and I opened the passenger side door so he could come and stand on the step of the van and we hugged. He is tall now at almost 7 now and fits there perfectly. He was so glad to see me and me him. Then I got out and walked around a bit and when I left he hugged me again for a long time. We enjoyed it a lot. Then yesterday we all went to church like we always do on Sunday mornings, his mom and brother and sister and him and me, and he sat beside me during worship and we sang and worshiped God together and he stood up a couple of times when I did. When it was time for him to go up to kid's church I told him if he was good we'd go to the playground so he said he would be. So when church was over he said he had to pee, his mom was just coming out of the ladies bathroom and I figured it would be easy to pop him into the handicapped stall and he'd go too but NO WAY as he heard a FAN in there and freaked out! They have it wired so that when you turn on the light switch the fan is on. I turned it off and had the door partly open for light but it was too late. His mom got a little perturbed at him but I talked to him walking out, and said I was really sorry that the bathroom scared him so, gave him some empathy and that calmed him. Yep still afraid of bathrooms. So then we went to Subs and I bought sandwiches, way more expensive than Mc's and we went to the park. I asked him if he would rather go home and pee first as it was close but he said no and he played out there for a long time while we ate in the van. And I saw him on some play equipment talking away to two little brown Mexican boys, his face was so animated and smiley and I wanted to know what he was saying to them! They seemed very interested and talked back and forth to him than they ran off to swing. Counter to the school psychologist who said he " only talked at people. " His mom and I are still mad at her for the way she said that, was kind of a put down and not true. Finally he was done playing and we went on home, he finally to pee I hoped and to eat his sandwich. And I went to my house to crash in my chair under my Snuggie, Sundays I crash. Just my observations of the boy and I am seeing way more to be positive about in him than to be negative about in him. School is out this week and my daughter has bought a snow cone maker in a little trailer and will be working a lot with her 14 year old daughter so I will tend the boys. Am looking forward to some fun times at the lake, etc., plan to take the bikes and get him going on his. Can't haul him in the trailer any longer, the last time we went on March 24 my leg STILL hurts! Got bursitis in my lower leg tendons by the knee. He can ride with training wheels so we will go that route for awhile. Onward! Much love to you all!
