Guest guest
I don't want to spark a debate, but just wanted to provide an alterative advance directive. The one the lawyer gave me was totally for withholding any type of care in an emergency. I do a lot of research on life issues online & I have read about stories of elderly patients who have signed a living will saying " no food or water " . While they're in a dire situation, some changed their minds and wanted food. Often times, the doctors say, " Well your paper says 'no food or water' so we can't give it to you. " Sometimes the doctors will say they are not competent enough to make the decision to get a feeding tube even if they're hungry. Two living wills that err on the side of life can be found here: National Right to Life (Will to Live Project) http://www.nrlc.org/euthanasia/willtolive/StatesList.html International Task Force against Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide http://www.internationaltaskforce.org/
