Guest guest
Myrna, There is a vegetable soup of meds that you will end up trying. Finding the right coctail mix will help. Read up and study the new med names... there are " good " lewy meds and " bad " lewy meds, but because our loved ones, but none seem to work the same for everyone. For my mom, just getting off the parkinson's meds, and on to the LBD meds helped curtail most of her hallucinations. Rather than lose the esteme of his christian friends. Tell them that he suffers from LBD and get them to read up on it. Tell them that Clergy appears to be a high risk group LBD group .. right up there with other hazardous occupations like farmers that bathe in pesticides. (Actually that IS especially TRUE for Parkinson's Disease ) Dann --- Myrna wrote: --------------------------------- I am reading with interest that you all are experiencing the same sort of hallucination as Jerry. The reoccurring ones are 1. a black cat that he sees periodically. It does not upset him. (Thank goodness, it is not real. I am allergic to cats.) 2. He thinks cars, especially red ones, are tracking him. He is especially suspicious of the red truck across the street. When we are driving on the highway, he says.. " see, there goes another one " . " They place them in front and in back of us to harass us! " Last night, at a travel club dinner, he approached the president and asked why all the cars are tracking him. Was he part of it? " It was very embarrassing for both of us. 3. He sometimes pulls the blinds down and checks and re-checks the door locks. Then there are days and nights of no problem at all. Strange? My husband is a respected retired United Methodist minister who had a great memory and a gift for speaking. That is all gone. I hate that he also is loosing the respect of his peers and others. Guest guest
Re: Hallucinations/ Myrna Myrna, Actually I read an article that did place Clergy among the highest risk occupations (along with other known high risk groups) like welders and farmers, for Parkinsons Disease. Almost every LBD case that you will hear about was initally diagnosed as Parkinsons. So many LBD cases initially diagnosed, or are misdiagnosed as Parkinsonism, that I " extrapolated. " LBD is a relatively rare diagnosis to date. So statistics are harder to come by. I did NOT read that LBD was statistically linked as high risk with Clergy. My point is simple. Your husbands Christian Peer group should be more christian in their concern for your husband. Putting a scare into them, that they are also high risk should bring on some christian compation.
