Aletha [low dose naltrexone] To Aletha - Cold climates, MS, and Vitamin D To Aletha: Lack of Vitamin D seems to be one of the causal factors of MS. Vitamin D is manufactured by the reaction between the sun and your skin. Cold climates, less sun, less Vitamin D. People who reach puberty in the tropics seldom ever get MS, even if they move to a colder climate at a later date. Vitamin D is available in tablet form (I get the 1,000 IU per tablet kind) and is very inexpensive. Researchers at the University of Calgary recommend about 4000 IU per day, not the 400 the Canadian Food Guide recommends. Dr. Code www.emu.ca also recommends 4,000 IU per day. Toxic dose is believed to be in the range of 10,000 to 12,000 IU per day, so 4,000 should be quite safe. I have taken this dose for over two years & no problems. Hope this helps.
