Shannah, you can get LDN right here in Edmonton from a compounding drugstore called Dispensaries (1991) Limited, (780) 423-1610. I get mine made up in 1.5 mg capsules so that I can vary my dosage if required. And LDN has certainly worked out well for me!

Hope this helps.

Well, I got all excited about the possibility of actually having some energy this summer, less pain, etc.! Looked up the website of Medsmex and printed out the Homemade LDN from Rhonda - (great posting!)Contacted Medsmex only to find out that they do not ship to Canada - customs restrictions. Very disappointing! But great site you have here. Very informative. I'm glad I found it!Shannah

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the information.

The problem for me is not finding a compounding pharmacy that will make up the LDN. I have located one not too far from me who is making it up already for MS but has no CFS patients using it.

The problem is finding a doctor in this area to prescribe it for CFS. My GP doesn't seem open to doing anything out of the ordinary. Last week, he wouldn't even do an NK cell count on me when I asked him, even although my son, who sees a specialist in Toronto and has the same conditions as myself, has improved since being on medication to raise his NK cell count and regularly has NK cell count tests performed to monitor his progress. (I don't see the same doctor as my son as there are additional costs involved and the current budget doesn't allow for us both to attend.) Raising NK cell count seems to be vital with ME/CFIDS/FMS and current research supports this. But my doctor seems to believe that NK cell count tests are only warranted in people with HIV/AIDS. So although he is a very caring doctor, he is really not up to date on the complexities of these illnesses and how to treat them - let alone any experimenting.

I do have a possible lead of a doctor a couple of hours away but you apparently need a referral from a family physician. So once again, this may be a dead end for me.

I'm glad to hear it has worked out well for you. What a relief you must feel.

Thanks again for taking the time to write.
