Guest guest
Hi Grant! I would have your group do one heavy and one lighter(5-20%) day each week. I would have an unloading week every 4-8 weeks and I would change exercises every 4-8 weeks. Initially I would change reps at least every 2-4 weeks and after a few months I would change them weekly. Best wishes! Training a group of athletes only for 2 hrs/week I seem to have more trouble with planning their programmes: is there time and validity of having hard/easy days? should I have unloading weeks? how much variation in their programme should I aim for (since they are juniors and many are novices in the S & C world I try to get a fair amount of variation)? How much repetition should there be? > > If you have any answers, ideas, or practical experience please let me know. > > Regards, > > Grant > Strength and Rehabilitation Consultant > B.Sc. (Hons) Ex. Dan, Thanks for that. Your suggestion is very similar to what I have been doing. The major difference is that I spent a number of weeks mainly focussing on technique, and that was just for squats (various) and deadlifts! I started to doubt myself over the last few weeks after reading a lot of " Westside " and Schroeder training techniques. I thought that I was perhaps not allowing for as much variety as I should.
