Guest guest
Carmen...I will definitely ask about taking folic acid. Thank you for that info! I am wondering...I heard that MTX taken by injections is more well tolerated then taking the pill form..Is this true? All of these side effects are a scary thing. But in some cases I think we have to take chances....I feel like I have to do this ....what else am I going to do.....It's just a lot for someone to take in so quickly. I'm just scared. Once I start on the remicade and it starts working, things will be different. Just pray that it works for me! Carey

Guest guest
Hi Carey, Yes, it is true that the MTX taken by injection poses less side effects. I was taking the pill form until the side effects got the best of me (even with the Folic Acid) so finally got switched to the injections...which I did for about a year, and then had to also quit them. I am *very* sensitive to most all meds. For instance..I truly could use an antidepressant at this time ..*but,* so far am unable to cope with *any.* ( I do praise the mtx however, even though I couldn't stay with it, as it did stomp out the dragon more than any other meds had!) Hopefully you will soon be feeling much, much better!! from Wisconsin, Tricia for anyone who feels too warm!! & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & -- Re: "Carey....MTX" Carmen...I will definitely ask about taking folic acid. Guest guest
Carey, Hi - I don't think we've met, I'm Peggy and I've been diagnosed for 7 yrs. Recently my old meds weren't doing the job and even adding steroids back in the mix didn't help. My doctor recommended MTX and I started 4 weeks ago. I too was extremely scared when I read all the warnings, but I felt like I had no choice but to try it. I'm just starting to feel a bit better but since they said it takes 4 to 6 weeks, I'm optomistic that it is starting to make a difference. I have not experienced any major side effects other than extreme exhaustion the day after I take it and a little nausea. I take all pills on Saturday night and Sunday is a day of sleep. Good luck with it - I know you are scared, but we are all praying for you.
