have these kids ever been told to respect their elders and the law and the police?

I wholeheartedly support this petition.  I have a son who is Asperger's, and can be violent (against himself or property, not people.)  The same kind of thing that he received services and support for when he was 17 in now considered criminal when he is 19.  He has been arrested 3 times for 'disturbing the peace " during one of his rants.  He is on probation and next time he will be sent to jail.  The don't want to hear it...it is SOOOOO frustrating!

It isn't that simple.  No mental/neurological condition can be

solved simply by telling people to 'do the right thing'.  Training

and medication can help, but doesn't always solve the problem.  I am

not sure you have yet understood the breadth and depth of autism.

they take longer to learn stuff, I realise that. they aren't beyond all help though. I don't think you have realised that yet.
