It depends on the school. Some will accept medical diagnosis, others will

It saying that a medical evaluation doesn't take the school environment into

Account. The problem is that there really is no rhyme or reason about which

Schools accept it and which don't-it totally depends on whether the school

Feels like they already have too many kids with autism on their campus

already

And whether they want another one or not.

Remember, a school designation of autism is NOT a diagnosis. From the

school's

Perspective, the autism has to interfere with your child's ability to learn.

ISD accepted my son's " medical " testing with no problem. I think they were

relieved

Not to have to pay for it.

My son has been diagnosed through UTMB with autism, so I have the

psychologist's evaluation. Is that good enough for the school? I know

that they work closely together. But do they accept a psychologist's

diagnosis?
