Guest guest
- and others, thanks so much for what you have posted on the Belo Blog. Don't know if any of you have looked at it recently. I was able to post and give more background on our reason for filing DP. And there have been several very good comments since then. You can't change everyone's mind - you can hope to educate them though. And everyone that has not joined the support group that I have set up (see link below) I hope that you join since I am updating everyone there and posting documents from our DP hearing. Thanks for everyone's kind words of support. If I have not returned you email, I will soon. I've been getting some of the most wonderful emails and phone calls from across the entire US. Looks like we can make a difference and with this we can hopefully join forces to affect some change. Amy Fighting the fight for all our children's rights... Amy A. Sosa amy.sosa@... Everyone's experiences shape their point of view. The DMN writer who made that comment seems that he allows his views to be shaped by his wife. His bio reads: " Married to Garland ISD educational diagnostician _______. " Should we be surprised her husband would broadcast such a perspective? > > Don't waste your time reading it...... > > Just more blogs from people who think they have been there and know that - but they haven't, and they don't..... > > I wonder if they would put veteran's medical care in the same category of: > > " If you want free, you get a chevy, not a cadillac " .... > > > Reading those bloggers words made me think of this quote that I heard when I was a guest of Senator 's on the Senate Floor. I had talked him into giving me 5 minutes to talk about autism - and he gave me that 5 minutes while he was in the Senate voting on a resolution to honor a war hero. > > I forget what I talked about regarding autism, but I'll never forget what the man being honored said: > > " Freedom has a taste to those who have fought for it and died - that the protected will never know.. " > > > So goes it with parents like us: > > A person with a Disability/Autism has a sense of worth and honor to those who love and care for them - that those not touched by it could never comprehend...... > > > So... we march on in our battlefield of adocating, educating, challenging..... > > And with God's grace one day - winning............ > > > Sincerely, > M. Cheap maybe, but free - no. AS the saying does go: " You get what you pay for. " To me that's always the biggest irony - we pay for public education for years, if we are unlucky or so motivated, we may be forced to pay much more to ensure that our original contribution is meaningful for our children via the special education remedy process, while the same tax dollars are used against us to pay attorneys to fight us to keep us from benefiting from that contribution.
