Guest guest
Greetings, This is a wonderful idea for a number of reasons, Todd. First, I am well aware that Mel and the WSB gang had formed an " alliance " of sorts. Most of it was surely an endeavor of " profiteering " , but I am sure many are unable to allow themselves to see that. So, out of no disrespect to Mel or the WSB gang(and to save my breath from That discussion), I will take you up on your offer to stand point-proven at the end of the day- this should give me the opportunity to " practically display " a few things to the group at the tail end of all of this(circumstantially). In other words, it's much better than entrapping oneself in pointless discussions like 'my search engine only shows one answer to the Einstein IQ Test, what gives?'. Better than training some guy whose results are " like clockwork " because that would severely dampen our accomplishments together(note: I'd still like to help you out, buddy...just send me a video of you lifting these 1RM's you speak of to my email and I'll work with you). And definitely better than debating with someone whose already made their mind made up! At worst, people will be able to see that where most systems begin to stall or fail that my system doesn't even stutter. Unless, of course, the WSB system is not agreed, by this forum, as being a decent comparison? Unless, of course, the naysayers believe that Todd and I are " one and same " (I wouldn't put that past a few of the 'fine chaps' of this fine group). However, Todd, both you and I will separately and similarly argue that the WSB system is probably the most popular powerlifting system available at this time...and many will feverishly argue that it is the best training system for powerlifters to date. Correct? And even though many powerlifting/strength/sport training systems have been brushed aside on numerous occasions by Mel and this forum(dating back to well before I was a member), it is hard to formulate an appeal when the opposition produces better results! Am I correct? So I will gladly rush your results beyond their more recent stagnations, or at least open up your eyes as to what I consider 'results' versus what is popularly considered results. To touch on note that further, a " high school " strength coach from North America wrote me recently, boasting about how wonderful his program is and how wonderful his results are. 'After all', he said, 'I've got a 17 year old benching 408 lbs and cleaning 282 lbs!' Further research(I requested his " progress sheets " that one of his athletes so kindly offered) and found that this athlete whom benched 408 did so the " first semester " , just after working out under the auspicious of his own, self-formulated workouts. His " third semester " results clearly showed a current 395 bench! And the clean results? The semester breakdown, 1-3, looked like this: 275, 265, 282. Hmmm, interesting, huh; especially since each " semester " is noted on the sheet as being 9 weeks long. A reported 13 lbs loss in bench press strength and a 7 pounds increase in clean weight over 18 weeks is NOT what I would consider great results...I would concur with the coach, however, that he is fortunate to work with some wonderfully " gifted " individuals. Moving on, it is anticipated, based on the general character of the boisterous few in this group, that regardless of what results you accomplish whilst training under my guided systematics that they will be robbed from their degree of accomplishment. So in anticipation of this, I welcome anyone reading this to present a reasonable offer to Todd and myself. My offer? I call out the " Lucia's " , " 's " , and " Loopy's " (inference made) to present Todd with coaching and training advice via the internet for 4 weeks. Since Todd has just finished a meet, we have a perfect point of reference....agreed? Then, I will mop up the mess for the second 4 week block! Unless, of course, one of you would like to try and progress him after I have dealt with him- and assuming that Todd would accept your offer?!?! So in alleviating the " false justifications " of why my system worked on the tail end of this all, I call you out to deal with him first. With this in the known, everyone should recognize you as stubborn to adjust, otherwise. That is, if you shy away from the challenge now and then Todd receives the great advancements that I give him, the forum should agree that Driscoll should assume all rights to mute your further comments relating to this " Project " , with this in no way reflecting poorly on our wonderful moderator's behalf. With that said, and assuming not many will head the call; Todd, you may email me to begin. However, it is something that I was going to tell Todd but I will make it clear now so that he doesn't seem defiant in the end, I will only work with him if he does not agree to restrict his sharing of information to results only(progressions or regressions). That saying, since the only response of the 6 000 plus members of the list was one individual who presented us with a watered down and poorly constructed version of iso-parametrics (thank you for prefacing that for me, but a method is not a system dear friend), I will also reserve the right to share anything other than result of method from the group. Of course, Todd, seeing as you aren't an athlete of mine, I will not make you sign the extensive confidentiality agreement that is standard practice at my compound. Meaning, even though I stand against using " results " to get the word across " enemy lines " , it is apparent that this is the only way to break the barriers of traditionalism with this group- especially considering the nature and development of this groups " personality " . Assuming the delay in responses, you are more than welcome to email me now, Todd, to get rolling in the right direction...all takers will have to drive behind me, figuratively and literally(I changed my mind, I want to get going with this)! That's right, I called you out; and if that doesn't get your blood boiling, sports fans, than I don't know what else I can do! Last note: if you'd be so kind, Todd, will you please post your results from this past meet on the forum...or, better yet, if there is a link to the meet results for us to look at on the internet, please present us with that. Also, it would help if you have a fellow member of ST enter the discussion; one whom can validate your " pre- and post-tests " ...is this possible? Also, it is probably wise to vanquish any use of powerlifting gear. In today's day and age of powerlifting, someone can simply better their technique with their gear, or simply get better gear, and add 20 or 30 kg or more (besides, I'd hate for you to come across the 'problem' of being unable to touch with 300 kg or more)! since the most reliable comparison comes from gearless lifts(hopefully this is agreed by the forum?) then we should only compare those lifts, in priority, and you can post geared lifts in addition if you'd like. This means: no straps, wraps, suits, or even boots that may give you an advantage on the platform. A simple shorts and t-shirt set up should do, whilst still abiding by the traditional rules of powerlifting(i.e. hip breaks parallel, bench must come to a halt before being pressed out, etc). This is where the third party comes in; he/she will need to validate all of this for us. Especially since there is no way that I am assured that you are out there as an " indiscriminate judge " . So, to insure the validity of the results to the group and to myself, please adopt a " judge " that has been a member of the ST forum for at least a few months now(I believe DD can check this?). That's it for now...I think we are ready to roll!
