Guest guest
Dang puters, I typed a bunch of stuff and hit a key and it all went away...er.......................................................... Anyway, I looked at the container I put the 50mgs pill in and tonight empty so that means I started on the 14th of June and just did the 2nd pill tonight and just took my dose at 9pm. This is something else how different this liquid way is doing me. I'm still wired and been up since 6am and I still could run around the block more than once. Is it the more consistant dose or what???? The one thing left to alleviate, fatigue is GONE!!!!!! and I hope is stays gone too. I think the numbness is from the scarring which I figure can't go away but isn't a big problem with me b/c I can still mentally feel everything. Can the ones that say 4.5mgs is too much again tell me why? It's not major energy is it? My appt. with neuro is Monday and I will see if he gives scripts whether for compounded or 50mgs but I will tell him all symptoms are gone but numbness. He should really give the LDN to other patients and educate the other neuros if he hasn't already. If he doesn't give me a script, he's FIRED!!! and I will see if GP will give and there is always Mexico. I will not think good of my neuro if he says NO and I have taught him about a drug that will save people from progressing from different diseases, most of them anyhow. When he says next appt. 6 months from now, I will laugh b/c I will never be back b/c I won't need to. Will cancel later but I may have to go back some if he gives me a script. Feeling GOOD............................) Rhonda > > I could swear I wrote down the night I started the liquid LDN but can't > > find it. Anyone here remember if I posted the date I started? Guest guest
You could ask SKIPS for 1.5mg capsules so that you can adjust your dose from 3 to 4.5mg ... I am sure they would oblige .. You should get the same results from the compounded LDN .. the fillers are fast release. Do whatever you are comfortable with .. 3mg, 4.5mg, capsule or liquid .. you will find what works best for you. Some people prefer the liquid and others prefer the capsules. Guest guest
Skip has to honor the prescription you get from the doctor. You'd 'probably' be better off with another prescription of ldn at 1.5mg tablets, that way you can adjust to 3mg or 4.5mg ??? Jim(rrms) [low dose naltrexone] Liquid LDN I went out and danced and was up til 2am and got up today at 10am and still energized. I took only 4mgs last night b/c seems I'm really wired and I've lost 10lbs in two weeks b/c I don't really feel like eating. I may try 3mgs tonight but I want the energy.Monday is my appt. with neuro and if he gives me a script for the compounded LDN at 4.5mgs, will Skips lower it to 3mgs if I decide the 3mgs is better or will the doc have to give me another script for 3mgs? I also wonder if I'll get the same effect with the compounded as I'm getting from the liquid Revia. I can ask for a script for the 50mgs of Revia also which my co-pay will be cheaper than what I pay for from Mexico. Rhonda

Guest guest
you will need anew prescription. You could try an RX for 3 anbd for 1.5 - then you could adjust as needed....

I asked my neuro to give me a script for 1.5 mg tablets. It is much more flexible. You could get 2 (3mg) or try 3 (4.5mg)if you feel like it. Skip compounds 1.5 mg tablets. Guest guest
I'll call Skip's again tomorrow and see about getting the 4.5mgs in 1.5mgs which seems to be the way to go then I can take 3mgs and go up to 4.5mgs. I'm I getting this right that there will be enough to take for 30 days with the 1.5mgs whether I take 3mgs or 4.5mgs? I really love having my energy back and I'm telling everyone I know about LDN. Even have my parents listening and my dad has prostate (untreated for 6+ years) cancer and my mom has arthritis bad and for her to even think about taking it, I think I have woke up some people. Even got people at the club last night interested and I gave websites for them to read. I feel like an LDN dealer.LOL I want to help anyone I can. Maybe I should have cards made with the website on it to pass out to everyone. I'm going to take 3mgs tonight and try to decide if 3 or 4 or 4.5 is best. I want the energy but I don't want to get under 100lbs being energized. I can do so MUCH now and not get tired! LOVE IT. ) Wish I'd never read the crushed method b/c liquid is much better!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
I had to get another script. I'm sure you will have too as it is a drug and the pharmacist can't legally alter prescription. Guest guest
I spoke with Irmats .. they have always called Dr B regarding perscription changes. If you give them a script for 4.5mg LDN and ask for it in 1.5mg or to reduce it to 3mg capsules or whatever, they call the doctor who wrote the script to make sure it is OK with him/her and then they proceed. They don't need you to physically get a brand new script but they need your doctors go ahead to change it. Makes sense. --- In low dose naltrexone , " Lori " <lorigrady214@c...> wrote: > you will need anew prescription. You could try an RX for 3 anbd for 1.5 - then you could adjust as needed.... Guest guest
Sorry if this posts twice ... I already posted but it didn't appear. I spoke with irmats. If you have a 4.5mg script and want to change it to 3mg or 1.5mg capsules they will call the doctor and as long as he/she says OK they will do it. They call every doctor if the patient requests a change. You don't need a new physical script but you do need your doctor's backing. Guest guest
Couple of items to note: When I went to my pharmacy, they gave me a 50 ml bottle and a handful of oral dispense syringes. I was looking to buy them and they just handed them out and said not to worry about it. So, even if they charge, your pharmacy might be a good source. Second, do not forget to keep the liquid refrigerated at all times. It seems to take about 15 to 20 minutes for the 50mg pill to dissolve in 50 ml pill. It should be noted that it would probably be a highly advisable thing to wash/clean the bottle between batches, just for cleanliness sake. Never seen it mentioned anywhere, but it is your life you are messing around with and a little caution every once in a while is warranted. Guest guest
.... according to Dr. Bob Lawrence. Preparation of Low-dose Naltrexone Suspension for use in the Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis The following details are derived from information provided by Dupont Pharmaceuticals Ltd. There are described a number of formulations used by individual researchers not directly employed by Dupont Ltd. Abboud et al describes a method in which 50 mg tablets were crushed and dissolved in 50 mls of water, thus providing a solution containing 1 mg/ ml. This was administered by adding 4 ml of syrup per ml of solution. The resulting suspension was found to remain stable for up to 24 hours. Tsang and Holtsman studied the stability of Naltrexone in simple syrup at a concentration of 1 mg/ ml. The suspension was prepared by crushing three 50 mg tablets and dissolving these in 100 mls of distilled water and 40 mls of simple syrup. Individual samples were then tested, for five consecutive days, assessing changes in colour, clarity, crystal formation and pH. There were no changes in any of these criteria. In addition, there were no significant changes in naltrexone concentration. It was thus concluded that this preparation was stable, at room temperature, for a period of five days. Fawcett et al examined the stability of crushed tablets in ascorbic acid 0.5%, sodium benzoate 0.1%, glycerol 20%, with distilled, de- ionised water to 100%. Crushed tablets or powder were triturated with the ascorbic acid and sodium benzoate, glycerol was added to form a paste and the mixture was made up to volume with water. Stability studies on this mixture indicated that the liquid was chemically stable, for up to 60 days, when stored in the dark at 4° C. Further studies, using commercial syrup suspensions, containing suitable antioxidants and preservatives, have demonstrated an appropriate clinical response, when stored under similar circumstances, but no chemical analysis of the active drug has yet been carried out. It is therefore suggested that a suspension, using either the method described by Fawcett, or a suitable commercial preparation, might be utilised in the preparation of a syrup suspension. This mixture would contain one 50 mg tablet of naltrexone in 330 ml (providing 1.5 mg/ 10 ml dose) or two 50 mg tablets of naltrexone in 330 ml (providing 3 mg/ 10 ml dose). Guest guest
Your neuro is correct. Bob Lawrence (an LDN physician) quotes the acepted science in the notes he provides (posted many times on this site). Liquid LDN is not stable unless you add preservatives (see Dr L notes). Storing in the fridge will reduced the decomposition but I have not seen any scientific data on this. The bottom line is that " using LDN in water means you do not know the exact dose you are taking, especially after a few days of preparation " .
