Guest guest
Sandie My dad had talked about having his grand-sons and grand-daughters as pall bearers. It made sense to me also: women have always carried a huge share of the burden in life, why not share in those final symbolic steps. When my dad passed, it is kind of blurry, but I believe that one grandson & granddaughter from each family served as pall bearers. I suppose that there will be grand daughter pall bearers wearing " heels " when mom passes. Job well done! The positioning of you as pall bearer took me back to my dad's funeral. I asked to be a pall bearer. Apparently this wasn't a normal occurrence as I am the 'daughter' of the deceased. Usually men carry the casket. I was nervous, as you explained in your post, yet followed through with my task and helped to carry my dad with pride. My brother was also a pall bearer, one difference, he wasn't wearing heels. :-) Thank you Chip for continuing to share your stories and for including us in your life. Best wishes to you and your wife, with hugs- Sandie and <snip>
