Hi,

I was told at Mayo LBD patients should not have anything more than Tylenol

due to other medications and the way the brain/ his body reacts to that type

of medication. Do you have a neurologist? He/ she should have something

else. I know my husband sleeps for days and is very confused if he is in

the hospital and they give him any medication for pain or sleep. Takes him

weeks to come out of it.

Sorry I am not much help. Good luck and God bless.

-- Pain Med

Hi-

I am new to this group and this is my first time writing to you. My Dad,

age 87, has had Lewy Body disease for more than 4 years. I think the end

may be near, but you never know. Is under the wonderful care of Hospice.

Dad has pain all the time, but as with LBD he is very sensitive to pain

medication, etc. He was just switched off of Trilisate, because my Dad

still had a lot of body pain. He stated on Neurotin yesterday morning, but

he is really wiped out as a result of this medication. Does anyone have

any suggestion as to what pain med works well with LBD? I want to keep my

Father comfortable.

Thanks,

HI Gerry

My MIL is on oxycontin SR 10mg once daily because of a crushed

vertebrae due to osteoporosis. This is in the opioid group like

morphine. This med does not cause any other problems and has worked

the best for controlling her pain. We can go to twice daily if

needed. Right now I give her a couple of tylenol in the afternoon to

get her over the hump.

Hope this helps,
