<< the fact that practical wisdom seems to be about as

scarce as " content Canadians " in this ballpark. That is, whenever

discussions get drawn into practical display, the crowd scatters for

safety. >>

I disagree with that opinion.

<<First off, the " solution " to the Sports Training IQ test is something

that you will be able to take with you throughout your sports-

training related life. Dig deeper, surely you will figure " it " out.>>

Condescending and gratuitous, in my opinion.

<<Therefore, instead of scampering to a hideaway..... I will then gladly

present the group with a follow up, and those who choose to put these separate

" displays " into practice quickly find out who's " the real slim shady " !>>

Pompous and uninformative; does the " group " now wait with bated breath?

<<Not to be rude,...>>

Too late now.

<<And that, my friend, eludes to exactly what I initially stated>>

" eludes " ?... that is singularly an appropriate description of this content.

<<(note to group: current odds have it that he will reply with anything

that allows him to dodge practical display...takers?)>>

If the " group " really cares about this " flaming " dialogue, perhaps the only

way for any of us to " save face " (as you suggest) is to drop our membership in

the " group " .

While some of the current content of this list is in the high standard set by

Dr. Mel Siff,

recent inclusions of personal attack (often ludicrous in light of the

expertise accredited both by academic witness and personal " real world "

accomplishment of the person attacked) obfuscating any true attempt to

enlighten,

inquire, or extend knowledge in the field is deplorable.

I realize that the moderator's job is both thankless and time consuming; yet

I wonder if more could be done to weed out this useless banter. Yes, I have

and will continue to just delete certain submissions by title or signature once

they have established themselves as offensive and devoid of content in their

submissions. I would prefer, however, to see the submissions of this group

held to a higher standard than the other drivel on the net by intervention prior

to post.

Is my concern shared by any of the other early and/or original members of

what once was a group that set the standard for others to emulate?

I have no problems with agreeing to disagree with you on some of what

you wrote- no skin off my back. But, on other matters, believe it or

not, I am in full agreeance with you:

(1)The moderators job is often overlooked and underappreciated.

(2)Everyone on this list has the freedom to read only those posts to

which interests them.

(3)But, most of all, I will humbly accept your concerns. I do

believe that this list should be carried out in the manner that Mel

would be fond of- out of respect for him and for the betterment of us

all(after all, you're right, it is still his forum).

In fact, I think it would be jovial if we all extended this

appreciation of the forum by inviting at least one " non-member " to

check things out. This would be, in my opinion, a way to allow Mel's

work to live on. Would that not be a good attempt to achieve part of

what you are after?

Now, in all fairness, let me give you " perspective " . I don't have a

single non-competitive bone in my body. I don't lose, period. So if

someone on this forum comes at me then they better be willing to ride

it out. Funny how individuals can come at me but if I take it to the

next level that it is suddenly frowned upon, not to mention that I

routinely get emails from individuals who say that their posts get

denied by the moderator(11 yesterday), [denials are mostly because posts

aren't signed and can be quite simply resolved - DD] but posts like yours will

occasionally surface. Kind of makes it hard to have a fair shake,

wouldn't you say? But that's not the point, if anyone gets brave

enough to put words into practice then there's no doubt that my

system will prevail(this is known), I would also like to see changes

`made to the group.

For one, self marketing on a list that is set up for information

sharing is dirty, in my opinion- do we really want the forum clouded

by marketing posts? I can understand necessity, but when every post

must hype one of their products, this is discouraging to us all. I'd

also like to see more of these expert coaches you speak of come out

of the shadows and take me up on my countless offers to take

discussions to the next level- no wonder why you are still scratching

your head about what my systems all about(no one will bring their

system to surface....all I ask for is to match up training

principles, people)!

Anyways, we should all come together to serve the same purpose, not

fight against it. And, to me, a challenge to someone to cough up

their program is not a step backwards. In fact, it is discussions

of, say, crack-cocaine use and its implication on sporting form that

is a step in the wrong direction.

So if the purpose is not to raise the bar in terms of training

application for the athlete's sake then I am with you...I don't have

time for this place either. Otherwise, I see no reason why we can't

all start fresh and assist a helping hand in each other's direction.

Fair?

DB,

I have a way to solve this problem of communication between group

members. I am willing to offer myself for your training. What I

mean by this, is that you tell me what to do and I will do it. I am

saying this for numerous reasons.

First, I am an avid powerlifter who

follows the westside protocol closely and I have read your articles

for Dave (even though they confuse me). Second, I am a strength coach

and I try anything once (but always with myself before my athletes). I

realize that we are across the world from each other but I am curious

as to what you are trying to say. My background is I am a powerlifter

(competing next Fri). I have squatted 500, benched a pathetic 320 &

pulled 465. We are hoping these numbers improve at the next meet (I

will keep you updated on that). But, if you teach me your system I

will try to implement it for my next meet (I try to compete at least

3 times per year). Current BW is 171 (just dropped to 165 weight

class). I think this is a far way of assesing a program. What do you

think???
