Something to note about melatonin…When

used in combination with astragalus, melatonin acts to induce a synergistic

effect that in turn helps the immune system produce IL-2 in your immune system

function. This is of significant benefit to anyone suffering from any immune

based disorder.

LDN's MAIN purpose is to stop MS progression, NOT

improve symptoms. If one gets symptom improvement from LDN then that is

an added plus. You may need to back down on the milligram after 1 1/2

months on LDN if spasticity has increased. Spasticity increased with my

first days on LDN but later subsided. If it does not subside then lower

the dose.

LDN can cause insomnia for a few weeks or

more. Many of us used Melatonin taken 30 minutes before your LDN

dose. Try 3mg of melatonin and if it's not enough go up to 6mg and if not

enough try 9 or 10mg and up to as much as 15mg if neccessary.

One takes LDN to keep his/her disease from getting

any worse.

Sorry about that. Take melatonin in

combination with astragalus ( or one of about a dozen other natural compounds) and

good things happen for your immune system. A synergistic effect is simply

saying that the sum of the 2 parts is greater than the normal whole. One

plus one = maybe 3 or 4 instead of two. Your body naturally produces a material

in your immune system known as interleukin 2 which is a natural substance used

to attack deformed or damaged cells. All immune related diseases such as

MS, ALS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, cancer, lupus, etc… occur because the

immune system does not function properly and fails to attack and remove DNA

damaged cells from your body. Those damaged cells mutate into or at the

very least support the existence of one or all of the above mentioned diseases.

As we age, our natural ability to produce interleukin 2 is decreased as a part

of growing older. By stimulating the production of this substance, we are

boosting the natural ability of the body to respond to threats from disease and

in turn we are able to better fight them off. Many people have the

reduced immune system capacity from an early age on which allows these diseases

to prey upon them at early ages. Therefore, anything that can be done to

increase the immune system activity is a very welcome thing.

Does this help or is there something else

I can add in a way of explanation for you?

I am a layperson, and what I get from this is that the combo of melatonin and astragalus together help the immune system to do something beneficial for people with auto-immune conditions. I'm sure it can be explained much more complicatedly.

Living in the states, I do not know for

sure what can be had in South

Africa.

Astralgus is an herb primarily used for

blood vitalizing (cleansing). It is available in either pill, capsule or liquid

form. A number of vendors produce it. I happen to use Gaia Herbs

liquid, but NOW brand also makes capsules of it. Both are available from

Total Discount Vitamins. The link is below that should take you to the “NOW”

page of TDV. TDV also has NOW brand melatonin and that is where I

purchase mine also. (also found further down the same linked page) I

know they ship internationally, but drop them a line just to be sure that South

Africa is included.

If you have any further questions, drop me

a note privately, and I will help in any way I can.

Thank you very much. This is clearer to me,at least.

I am new to this room and am trying to get used to the

terminology. Your patience with explanation is

greatly appreciated.
