Guest guest
Since my name was mentioned as possibly having an answer, let me state that this is absolutely not my field of expertise. I am not, nor have I ever been, a research scientist. I depend on people who can read and understand the scientific mumbo jumbo, then explain it to me in English. That's one of the benefits of being on this list. Mel liked having a wide variety of people on ST, from the lab rat to the gym rat. All that was required was a burning intererest in the subject, a willingness to learn from others, and to offer one's opinions, be they from a research paper or anecdotal experience (as long as you identified which it was). One did not hold precedence over the other. As Ron Dobrin said to me, what Mel created was a high level, free graduate seminar/discussion group where no one was turned away at the door. If we wish to carry on Mel's legacy, I suggest we keep that in mind as we all continue on with ST.
