Guest guest
Those of us who were there when Dee the swim coach died will not forget it. I also know my niece, who was one of the people that first introduced me to the DS, told me about having had one drink for an anniversary celebration in SF and she got up to go to the bathroom and realized she was DRUNK. She had no even finished one drink. Her husband kids her about how she is a cheap drunk now. She used to be able to hold her own with him. Doc has told us more than once that we need to leave it alone, for life really, but especially during the first couple of years. Our bodies are going through enough with losing the weight. If the persons friend was wondering about drinking after the year is a drinker, I would say Amen to him not having the DS. It would likely kill him. If he can't leave the booze alone. It is also something some people don't realize, but Doc insists people quit smoking for at least six weeks before he will operate on them. I don't know how long he says to them they have to stay off them after surgery, but I am sure he hopes by then they will stay off them permanently. We really do have to look at the DS as a health choice. It gives us a last chance at straightening up the mess we have made or genetics have helped us make of our bodies. I myself am so thankful for the way it has gotten rid of my diabetes especially. I also realize I am taking seriously my food choices more than I ever have. I know this is my last chance, and I am not going to screw it up. I am too old to try to hope for something new to come up in the future and I know this is the best there is. Enough said.
