There's a name for it, but it eludes me at this moment. It's MS associated, not LDN. Sometimes, I feel as if I have a belt tightly constricted around my waist or ribs. I haven't found anything to do about it. I've been on 4.5mg LDN since Nov '03.

Some really do have an allergic reaction to the filler used, but I suspect this number is very low. All prescriptions have a filler. Have you ever questioned your pharmacist about any other drug's filler? They would probably look at you as if you've lost your mind! The last thing us LDN users need is to be known as is a bunch of crazy know-it-alls! Experiment on yourself, and find out works best for you, and don't expect LDN to end all symptoms. Then if it does, you're really fortunate!

Could be the filler Avicel that Skip's uses. I'm wondering about it

myself since I may be getting a script there soon. Some get

nauseated from the avicel.

Many people have experienced an increase in symptoms during the first 3 months

on LDN, that's not unusual. If this does not go away, look at possibly changing

your filler to Acidophalus. It could be a result of your current filler.

Avicel caused me headache, nausea & vomiting. Calcium Carbonate caused the LDN

to become slow release and all my symptoms started to return on CalCarb. I

started out with lactose filler and was doing superb but wanted to experiment

with other fillers. I wound up back on lactose and am superb again. I never

tried the acidophalus but so far there has not been one single complaint from

anyone who has used it as a filler.

It's called the MS hug. Mine was so bad before I started 4.5mg LDN that I

called it the MS torture chamber. I had it non-stop for 14 straight years and

it got worse every year. You've seen those snakes that squeeze their prey to

death, that's what my muscles were doing to me before LDN rescued me, it

affected my entire torso, arms and legs. My lung expansion had become very

limited and I could hardly breathe, it actually hurt to breathe and the pain in

the muscles was so intense it caused me to have suicidal thoughts. Nothing

touched this pain except 4.5mg LDN. My MS muscle squeezing pain reduced approx

65% on 4.5mg LDN.

I am a one yr newbie. I was having a flare up when I was diaged and I was getting the feeling your feeling. they call it the ms hug. Yours sounds relatively mild. I felt like I was wearing a corsett. I would definately mention it, but it could be a sysmtom reappearing.

I am in the process of trying to get on LDN, please keep me posted of your progress.

thanks for all the info( i think ......that sounds aweful......i'm so

glad to hear that its better for you on the LDN , thats encouraging....mine

hasn't gotten that bad , hopefully it won't with being on the LDN , its

almost a relief to know that it is most likely MS related, i don't think i

could handle finding something else going wrong at this point:)

Hi Lynn,

It is called the "MS hug" an is very common for those of us with ms. It is only another of so many symptoms. I've had it for over 20 yrs. Eventually you will get used to it. Don't fret over it.

if you want to e-mail me personally. i have alot of questions. it could be many things but depending on if its the left side , middle, how your bowels are, etc. I'm not going to elaborate or be able to give you an intelligent guess if i don't ask more questions and then you may need to see a doctor if it's severe but I have some ideas already!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dr,. Bihar's first patient many years ago had numbness around her trunk. It was his daughter's friend. This was many years ago and she was the first one with ms to try LDN that we know of. It made that symptom go away and she has been in remission for a long time (over a decade) . Kathy

Try a castor oil pack if it happens again with flannel and a hot water heater. It may or may not work but its great for the organs. Just put it on your stomach. You can find out more by reading Edgar Cayce's work.

I wondered about this too. I've been on it one week and haven't noticed any difference, even in my rate of progression, which still seems noticeable over any given two or three day period. Perhaps I do have a bit more energy. Does LDN really seem to slow progression? I would definitely settle for slowing progression OR some symptomatic improvement, but so far haven't seen either. I know it's early.

It seems like that to me too. I think it did slow progression in some ways. I was using a cane most of the time when I started, but I probably could have used a walker at times. I use one now all the time in the house.

I didn't see much in the way of symptom relief, but I know a lot of other people on this forum have.

Perhaps someone else can chime in.

IT TOOK ME ABOUT 3 OR 4 MONTHS TO REALIZE EVERYTHING HAD IMPROVED AND IT IS VERY SUBTLE FOR SOME, MORE DRAMATIC FOR OTHERS. I HAVE A MUCH STRONGER IMMUNE SYSTEM NOW AND STRESS DOESN'T AFFECT ME AS MUCH. I DON'T HAVE MANY RELAPSES ANYMORE. IT SEEMS TO BE GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T GET DISCOURAGED. GIVE IT A FULL YEAR BEFORE YOU MAKE A CONCLUSION. Kathy

One week was way too early for me. It took at least 8 months to notice anything as far as bladder control.
