LDN and elevated liver enzymes

I have been on 4.5 mg of LDN (doing the liquid solution) for over a

year due to a positive rhumitoid factor. I have recently had

bloodwork done and have elevated liver enzymes (ALT) of 80 consistant

across two tests. All other factors (alcohol, hepititus A,B and C)

have been ruled out.

Has there been any reported cases of elevated liver enzymes with LDN?

It is the only lifestyle change since my previously normal tests from

Getting an ultrasound soon and will be contacting a liver specialist,

but few out of this area are aware of LDN and how it works--trying to

get them a head start.

Thanks for any input you may have.

I just had my liver enzymes checked and came back normal. I have been on LDN 2yrs come July 4th. Do you take any other meds (for cholesterol, blood pressure?)

Take milk thistle every evening , it cleanses the liver. Kiki

Have your doctors call Dr. Bihari. I have never heard of any reports on

elevated liver enzymes with the minute dose of 4.5mg. Dr. Bihari and his wife

have both been taking 4.5mg LDN for well over 10 years and have had livers

checked and they are normal.

When prescribing naltrexone at the regular dose of 50 mg daily, MONTHLY routine liver enzyme blood tests are required. I can't speak for the low dose.

,

Have there been evidence of adverse liver function at 50mg? I couldn't

find much on the net. Willing to accept it may just be my reaction to

the low dose, or be completely unrelated. Any ideas as too how long

one should be off of LDN to purge the system to allow for an accurate

blood test?

Thanks so much for the reply,

Any ideas as too how long one should be off of LDN to purge the system to allow for an accurate blood test? I've used Revia at 50 mg daily for up to 12 months with people suffering from alcohol dependence. They already tend to have poor liver function tests before they even start on Revia. The general rule of them is that we didn't stop the Revia unless one or more of the liver enzymes reached 5x the normal limit. Actually, if my memory serves me correctly, I've only ever had to stop it with 2 individuals one of which developed alcoholic cirrhosis.

After stopping it, 1/2 of the naltrexone is eliminated about 13 hrs later. Then 1/2 of the remaining 1/2 is flushed out in the next 13 hours. Continuing on, it takes 13 more hours to eliminate 1/2 of the remaining 1/4. Repeating the rate of elimination of 1/2 of the remaining dose over 13 hours tells you that it should take less than a week or so for all of it to be eliminated. This all depends of course upon many factors such as kidney function, liver function, whether one is a fast metabolizer vs a slower metabolizer, etc.
