It is kind of a common occurrence after WLS. We loose weight and

have an excess of bowel in a smaller space. Dr. K stated at a

support meeting that very often (for some) the excess bowel is

evident at the time of DS surgery...so it Pre-existed the DS and just

hadn't become a problem yet. He can't fix it, at the time of DS,

because he can't predict who it will become a problem for and just

where in the bowel the problem will be.

What can we do to prevent it.

Don't have abdominal surgery

Don't ever become obese

Don't lose weight

Don't have constipation issues

Don't drink soda

Don't get gas

In other words don't do anything that Can inflate or move the bowel.

I've heard some say the surgery was REAL difficult.

I've heard some say it wasn't to bad.

I'll hope you will fall into the second group.

Hugs

Jo

Hi Jo,

Thank you! I hope I fall into the latter of the two also :-) thank

you for explaining it to me, I was wondering if the eight loss had

something to do with it. I don't drink soda's yet at least not with

any carbonation ;-) I get alot of really hard gas pain but I don't

know what I'm doing to cause the gas, but I think that's what's make

my colon so dilated.

Thanks again for your help.

Hugs and Blessings, Melody
