Guest guest
Juls, I'm sorry you're hurting..... hang in there and things will get better for you. Phil =================================================== Colectomy is over! Hi all, I'm home and suffering with the " buyers remorse " . Very similar emotions, hurting body like with the DS. This was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I had like no pain with my TT/Hernia repair, and I thought this would be the same. I thought it was all about pain control, but I've not been able to control that. Thank God for Dr. K. The hospital here says I have sinus Bradycardia. I guess it's normal for DS pts? My labs were funky, and they wanted me to see an endocrinologist. I will follow up my labs with Dr. K. I had to get myself out of bed and get walking after surgery. The nursing staff couldn't believe it. I guess I'm well trained after the DS. Hope you are all doing well, Juls - NM ************ **It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Guest guest
Hi Juls, I'm glad to hear you're home and I'll pray you have a speedy recovery. Reading this makes me very nervous, I have to have a Colectomy too and I've heard how hard and painful it will be...:-( I'm so not looking forward to it. but I have to have it so I will have to make the best of it. I'm having it done in Delano with Dr.K as I don't know anyone local and we dont have any local doctors who are familiar with the DS, I dont need them to go in there and think my DS route is what caused it and put me back the way I was...:-( If you don't mind telling me...how long did you have to stay in the hospital? I was told 3-5 days then to hang around close by until I see Dr K in his office. I'm not looking forward to the 8 hr drive home, after my DS I didnt have any trouble riding in the car or getting around after I had my drains out only before the drains were out. I feel more nervous about this surgery than I did the DS too, probably because I know how the DS was and this one will be harder and more painful...will Dr K give me the pca pump for pain again? and did your dr give you anything for the spasms? I was told Dr K would give me valium or a muscle relaxer for them if I needed it one. Well this has kept you long enough, I hope you're feeling better and I also hope you feel up to replying to this. take care and get better soon...lots of gentle hugs and prayers.....Melody " Mel " > > Hi all, > > I'm home and suffering with the " buyers remorse " . Guest guest
Don't be worried. It's not that bad. It is for a few days, but like my hubby says, it's only been a week. I am such a go getter, and for me to be held down, it harder than anything. Actually, I could probably go back to work a couple of hours a day if I weren't so spoiled. You have the best Dr. around and hospital to fix your situation. If my insurance would have approved me to go to CA, I'd have been there in two seconds. Dr. K said for me to go home and let my local surgeon perform the surgery on me as colectomies are the bread and butter of any board certified surgeon. Plus Dr. K had spoken with my local surgeon and found him to be quite competent. It's funny, my local surgeon talked to Dr. K, and was so highly impressed as well. Even the hospitalists who spoke to Dr. K about my labs were impressed. It's not just us that knows he's the best. My local surgeon said that he did look around at my plumbing while he was in there, and he was impressed. He didn't mess with anything, but he admitted to taking a " peek " . Your surgery will go well, cuz Dr. K will be in charge. Good luck and have faith, Juls - NM **************It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Find your travel deal here. Hugs and Prayers, Melody > > Hi all, > > I'm home and suffering with the " buyers remorse " . Very similar emotions, > hurting body like with the DS. Guest guest
Thank you Juls, I know I'm in good hands, Dr. K had said he thought there were surgeons here who could do it and also has a collegue in Sacremento who does the DS that he knows could do it but that I was the boss and if I wanted hiim then he would be happy to do it. I explained my fears of anyone here doing it, not as much the doctors but the nurses, my late husband lost his leg from a staph infection caused by a nurse removing his dressing and the cleaning it and redressing it withou using anything sterile, no sterile gloves, no sterile saline solution nothing, in fact they changed a dresing they werent suppose to change, it was a total knee replacement and the doctor left strick orders not to change the dressing that he would change it and they did it anyway...his was only one of several surgeries that ended up with staph infections and our hospital was close to being shut down....anyway, I'm sure they've gotten better since then but I dont trust anyone here to do it and Dr. K understands how I feel and my dh agrees, it's 8 hrs away but were going to take our dog to our daughters in ville on the way and spend a couple of nights then stop back for a couple of nights on the way home. I've been wanting to go see the grandkids and this is a good excuse...:-) Thank you again for helping me feel better, I know it will only be bad for a few days then each day will get better, I'm just not looking forward to this one, but I have to have it done and I have the best DR doing it so I'll be fine, besides God is in control of all things so between God, Dr.K and my DH taking care of me I know I'll be fine :-) Take Care Juls and I'm glad to hear each day is getting better, keep me updates so I know about how long to expect to be down...I have a lot I want to do in my yard before Winter comes and I havent been feeling good enough to do as much as I'd like to. Guest guest
Juls I'm glad to know that you are getting better. But the Recuperation time still sucks! You were blessed with your local surgeon. The willingness to consult with Dr. K is a sign of a GREAT doctor. I'm sure that your local surgeon wouldn't of had any problems doing the surgery without consulting Dr. K...but by his doing so, he eliminated some of the surprise factors and made his patient feel a bit more secure. Try to REST while you are healing! Pamper yourself a little bit. Healing Hugs Jo > > Don't be worried. It's not that bad. It is for a few days, but like my > hubby says, it's only been a week.
