My son used Valtrex 2 years ago and was a non-responder. Before we gave up valtrex, we went up to the maximum dose (I don't recall what that dose was) to give it a fair shot and suggest you do the same.

My son Deniz is also 9 years old now.

He's on valtrex and nizoral since 55 days and he had some die-off symptoms but he doesnt have still significant gains.

He has many signs that shows he's a viral child, but he hasn't high herpes titers, has only high coxsackie titers (not very very high)

He's on 2x250 mg/day (because our DAN dr. recommended this dose)

I think it's a low dose for a 9 years old 28kg (about 62 lbs) child, do you think that we have to try higher dose before give-up valtrex?

Thanks for responding. Being with 4 different DAN's, we've had the IgG test done 4 times. Each time we've avoided foods he reacted to. It seems like the never ending story... each time it's completly different foods. We're currently avoiding some foods but i'm not sure if it makes any difference on him. Not sure how accurate those tests are anymore!!!

We did chelate when my son was 4. After about 5 cycles his poop was really messy and the DAN thought we should stop and see a GI doc. He was diagnosed with colitis and treated for 6mths. We didn't go back to chelate again until he turned 7. At that time we did DMSA and EDTA IV and my son really started to scream in pain after about 3 cycles. The DAN then did not want to continue because he didn't understand why he was screaming in pain. My son actually regressed after that both in learning and toilet training and still continues to be that way. So, chelation is out of the question for us right now!

Anyway the current DAN tested him again and the results were all normal level! Somehow he's gotten rid of most of the metals!

We never did testing for levels of testosterone. I don't believe he has issues with that. He doesn't show maturity over his age at all. But that's an interesting point.

Hello ,Sorry to hear that you have not had much luck. The good news is that your child appears to have few GI issues. Have you had the IgG test to check for food sensitivities? Have you chelated?My boy is 7yo and a mild responder. I have tried MANY things (valtrex, LDN, Yasko ...). Having read so much, I believe the entire autism problem boils down to toxicity. Everything else (GI issues, visual, stims ...) all result form that toxicity. One way or the other, the body needs to be cleaned up. Therefore, back to the question -- have you chelated? If so, has he been dexoxified? Have you performed a porphyrins test to measure metal toxicity? If he is toxic, then CHELATE. If he is still autistic after chelating and verifying that he is no longer toxic, then its time to fix the damage. He will need good schooling. Have you heard of and tried the Son-Rise program?Back to
