Guest guest
That would be a honor Marla, but I can understand how you feel about it all at the same time. Hope you feel better soon. Ginger <>< > > Jo, I took ADEKs because Dee sent me a prescription. I am so compliant that I didn't even ask why? Dr. K also let me take Celebrex for my knees until I had both knees replaced at the same time. After physical therapy I didn't need them any longer. Now I am on the 6 weeks of D3-50 and then 6 weeks of it twice a week and then 1000 mg per day thereafter. With this I also take 3,000 mgs of calcium citrate which I might add I do it but I hate it. Those dang things are huge and you have to take two at a time. When I add it to my protein drink it is crunchy and I really hate that. I miss my Cal-Max even though it is hugely expensive and evidently didn't do the job. When traveling I still mix it up like Marta does with several different kinds. This change is in addition to all the other vitamins I take. > > I went for my last Plastic Surgeon appointment today. He is so proud of his work that he wants me on his web site. I had filled out papers saying no. He promised no one would ever know who I am so maybe it is okay. I have the thighs done next as soon as my ferratin gets high enough. He is going to do a few little things extra. We will see. Seems like I am always recovering from something. Right now I have a cold and I must say I feel a little " snippy. " That is not a good thing. > > Marla > WA State > > >
Guest guest
I found some calcium (on sale) from TwinLab that I hope is worthwhile. Calcium Citrate Chewable Wafers with Magnesium & Vitamin D. The wafers are fairly large but that's not a problem since they are to be chewed, not swallowed. Calcium 1000 mg, Magnesium 500 mg, Vit D 400 IU. They have a citrus flavor that's really pretty good. I chew them (usually four or five or six wafers) while I'm working on the computer. If this is a good product, it's a really easy way to take calcium. Comments invited. Phil from Shafter. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ -------------------------------- Re: Marla-ADEK's-Jo-NSAIDS Marla Since you enjoyed taking the Cal Max...why not try Up-Cal D? Up-cal D is a Powdered Calcium Citrate with D3 and can be mixed with your protein drink, juice.... Check out the following link for info only...I just did a quick google so you could see some info on it. http://www.globalhp .com/Global- Health-Products- UpCalD.htm For Price comparisons Vitalady sells it for 15.99 a box of 120 (500mg) packages. http://www.vitalady .com/cgi- bin/commerce. cgi?preadd= action & key= 1646
Guest guest
Phil, how many wafers do you have to chew to get the 1000 mg. of calcium? How many come in a pkg and the cost? Guest guest
Phil The Chewable wafers sound good to me, and If you take them on a consistent basis to be compliant than I say they are dynamite! Just for informational purposes: It has been recommended in the WLS community that you need a 2:1 ratio of Calcium and Magnesium for best absorption. This product is meeting that with 1000 mg calcium/500 mg Mag. YEA! However I offer this warning...that ratio may cause diarrhea because of the Magnesium. Just something to be aware of. Also...Pay CLOSE attention to how many wafers it takes to meet " YOUR " calcium requirement...spread out your doses by a couple hours in 500 mg. increments and don't take it with iron. I'm thrilled to know you are working on taking your supplements...Makes me very happy. Hugs Jo > I found some calcium (on sale) from TwinLab that I hope is worthwhile. Guest guest
Pearl, 4 wafers contain the dosages I listed previously. I bought ten bottles (60 wafers per bottle) for $7.00 per bottle. That would be 15,000 mg of calcium for $7.00. That was about half the regular price and it's hard for me to pass up a " bargain. " However, I haven't done a cost comparison with other sources of calcium so I don't really know if this is a bargain. Guest guest
Phil - Don't we only absorb 500 mg of calcium at a time? So chewing 5-6 would be a waste unless you space them 2 hrs apart. Bobbe in Paso. 285=24. 3/03. 171=16.
