it is better to divide the dosages throughout the day as b-12 is not stored in the body. ADEK are stored. the rest you urinate out in the course of a day.

[low dose naltrexone] Vit B12?

I've read where the recommended dose for Vit B12 is 5-10,000 mcgs. Since this is a lozenge, does it make a difference if it is taken with or without food? Also, can one take two lozenges (5000) at the same time?

Stay connected, organized, and protected. Take the tour

this isnt true. b12 is stored heavily especially in the liver,

though it does tend to get used up rapidly.

type " b12 is stored " on google there is 106,000 results backing that

up. If you go vegan it can take up to 2 years before one would

notice b12 defiency because of this storage.

excessive amounts of b12 are excreted yes.

no sublingual is defintely not absorbed as well as IM. I take IM for

CFS weekly. Sublingual has not proven to be more effective than IM.

I don't believe it is.

im not saying sublingual isnt effective at all, but i think its

generally accepted that IM and IV are better routes to administer

any medicine /vitamin with maximal absorbption.

I am sorry its a known fact that b12 is stored in the body

especially in the liver. Anyone can research this themselves. try

pubmed.com , google or any good textbook.

i have never heard of this and i have a degree in nutrition. all the b vitamins are water soluble and you urinate them out. i'm not trying to dispute you, but i would like to know where that info comes from. i am always willing to be wrong and love learning new things. however, i want to make sure everyone is getting the right information to serve them best. you pee your b vitamins out all through the day. vitamins should be taken with meals unless otherwise instructed. sublingual b is just as effective as submuscular injections because of the amount of blood vessels under the tongue it allows for rapid absorption.now if you are saying it is stored in the body for 3 or 4 hours, that isn't really relevant . we are aiming for a steady amount available throughout the day for optimal neurological functioning. kathy

I think those statements warrant further investigation. The New Horizons newsletter has an article about the b12 sublingual versus the submuscular and the results were bloodstream over submuscular. of course, studies and results vary. How reliable and how much validity do these studies have? One may never know. If you have a regimen that works for you , then that is probably what your body needs. My symptoms were of a progressive nature for 3 years without one remission and now by a cocktail of nutrients and therapies, I have done well enough to work 60 plus hours a week since 1999. It is by the grace of God but I must have followed somewhat the right path. We each have to find our way. Have a beautiful day, Kathy

I just spoke with my acupuncturist who is a homeopath and doctor of Chinese medicine. She said b12 is not stored in the body . just thought I would relay this to the group so anyone who is interested can investigate this on their own and come to an individual decision since there seems to be a contradiction in studies or whatever this is. I haven't researched this on Google . I just have a problem with the word "proven" and things that are said with such firm conviction when we are discussing a very perplexing condition such as what is best for ms and how it compares to CFS, etc. Replicated results many times, Yes. PROVEN-- I don't think so. Blatantly telling someone they are wrong about something that may not be true is detrimental to the entire group. My intent is not to belittle, just to bring up an important point. Don't be so darn matter-of-fact if you aren't 100% positive. Kathy

I take B12, I think it helped with my Lhermitte's.

Be aware of the fact that most B12 is cyanocobalamin, which is not as

readily absorbed into the body as methylcobalamin.

I recommend the latter.

make sure you are tested. I was hoping that B-12 was an issue for me. When I was actually tested my level was too high....
