Thank you . That is good advise..I worry because of my weight still being so

high..I hate the number I weigh..But as for everything else. I feel so much

better...Physically and movement alone is night and day to my life before the

DS..Actually I had no life before my surgery...

In both my Moms case and my sisters case..They let it go so far and their

diabetes just went out of control...So its hard to compare myself with their

cases...

I am watching my sugar intake...For both reasons the diabetic risk and weight

loss...

I wish you luck with your  diabetic recurrence...

Take Care,

:)

,

I am one of the people it returned for. I recently asked Dr K about

it. This is what he said (in general): There haven't been a lot of

patients who have had it return, it depends on how bad you had it

before the DS and your families history, he is not sure why it comes

back for some and not for others. My advice at this point would be

to watch the amount of sugars you are eating (which you SHOULD be

doing anyway but I wasn't), same goes for getting out and

excercising AND taking all your supplements, which includes asking

Dr k and/or his staff if you labs get low what supplements to add!

(Vit D, Iron, etc.) Most importantly, don't stress! Stress puts a

strain on your system and increases blood sugars! Since my mom died

of diabetes also, I can relate to your fears but I have a new

favorite quote that says it well, " Do not let what you cannot do

interfere with what you can! "

I hope this helps.

so heavy? I had it prior to the DS..I was handleing it for years

with diet alone..then last last few years before the DS I had to

take oral medication.. .I would really be devasated if it

returned..My Mother and sister died from the illness...My sister

died at age 46...But she didn't know she had it...She lost her leg

and eye sight...

No problem. Denial is our biggest enemy! If you allow yourself to deny

that it could come back and therefore eat too much sugar it will hurt

you in the long run. If you ignore the early signs that it might be

coming back (as I did) you deprive yourself the chance to make changes

while it will still make a difference! Most of all, denial is what

leads to all the scary complications from diabetes. Well, that has

been my experience of diabetes anyway. ;0)
