If you have money some paediatritians do private diagnosis - I am

told Gillian Baird does them privately at the Newcomen Centre

attached to St ' in central London, a lot of us are not fans of

her research but if its diagnosis you want she should serve a

purpose. Don't know how much it costs. Apparently some private

insurers (eg PPP) will pay for diagnosis including MRI and EEG but

will not pay for autism treatments beyond that - what that means

exactly I don't know but I assume SLT and OT are not covered as

mainstream doesn't offer more than that. Unfortunately we didn't have

cover around time of diagnosis and the whole procedure took 2 years

on NHS...and they wonder why we don't value them?!?!?!
