Guest guest
Jill Have you considered Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization Shots? It's a form of allergy shot. Sounds like they work pretty well. I tried taking them, but had a really wierd reaction to them. I may try again pretty soon. Have had the other allergy shots, but they only last a few years. These are supposed to last a lot longer. Dianne
Guest guest
If everyone who is attending the AJAO will say "I" and let me know if you would like to arrange an area and time to meet I will see if I can arrange a place and time. The most predominant seizures she is having right now are connected to light, any light, she says that she is pulled by it and indeed if you would watch her it is like a child going to a candy bowl. She will be having a conversation with us and in the middle of it walk across the room pull the curtain aside and take her right hand and it will go back and forth across her forehead rapidly and then she will come back to the conversation. She will do the same thing with lamp light, even duck under a lampshade in order to have them. Sometimes she can come out of them easy but other times she seems to get caught in the light and we have to go and take her away from it. She wears dark glasses and hats to block the sun, they only help a little bit. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen, known or experienced this or have any information that might direct me to an answer. We are in the process of gathering all the alternative information we can in order to put together a lifestyle that can help her to be seizure free without drugs. As you know it can be overwhelming. Blessings, >>> You do not specifically report that these ventures into the light precipitate seizures. Most people do not get enough sunshine to fully supply the necessary serotonin for them to adequately function. Real light is critically important. Overdosing on ANYTHING is not ideal. Subject: Re: Epilepsy and Nutritional Supplements Thanks Mike for this important info. I take flax oil in a capsule like 3 or 4 a day depending on the time of the month. It has helped a great deal. Now I know everyone is different in their reactions to things that we take. In december I took flax oil mixed with cottage cheese for two weeks. It is a very, very high dose. I had a grand mal at that time. Which I usually have complex partial. I blamed it on my low sodium because trileptal depletes my sodium. Now I am believing that it could have been the oil. But just a month ago I almost went into another grand mal and my husband stopped it because of the vns. Now I am not sure what happened and either do the docs. I am very hesitant to go back to the oil. I am still on the flax capsules and I am doing fine. They have helped me take all my auras (230) away and some seizures. I don't have my seizures as often. Thanks again >>>> Let me say it again........ flaxseed oil MUST be taken with sulfurated amino acids as found in yoghurt or cottage cheese, completely mixed in. See the work of Johanna Budwig, PhD for the reasons why. My kid's seizures minimized in the two years he's been getting 1 T flaxseed oil plus 1 T ground flaxseed thoroughly mixed into yoghurt. Forget the capsules as they can be RANCID and do more damage. Your other option is FISH OIL (not cod liver oil) but again, you need to also supplement with antioxidants as these brain important omega-3 fatty acids oxidize easily. Guest guest
Thank you for responding. You know we don't know if the seizures are caused by light or if the the light just helps her release the the seizure, it is still an unknown. The support for getting sunlight is helpful for it is true she does need it. Sometimes in trying to help her decrease the amount of seizures we forget to consiously get out into the light. Do you know for serotonin how the light has to enter the body? Is it through the eyes or the skin or just being outside? Thank you, > In a message dated 3/3/2004 5:56:10 PM Eastern Standard Time, > writes: > From: " dhenudevi " <puregreenforest@c...> > Subject: New to list, light sensitive seizures > > Hi Everyone, > > I just happened on this list while doing research on healing > epilepsy concerning my 10 > year old daughter who has had petit mal seizures maybe all her life > but we first noticed > them at age two. Guest guest
Hi, Wellbutrin has also helped stop the burning in my thighs. When I get a doc to prescribe LDN, I plan on stopping the Wellbutrin.
