Guest guest
Good Luck, Lynne. Be prepared for someone to write to you and tell you that Skip's Pharmacy is WRONG...that nothing lower than 3 mg works. They sent me the same message...very discouraging. I am also beginning with a 1.5 mg dose for the first 30 days and then moving the dose upward. I wish you well. I am going to be starting my LDN tonight as well. Just received it from Skip's yesterday. [low dose naltrexone] starting LDN tonight:) > hello everyone, > i just wanted to let everyone know that i'm very excited and > encouraged, i'm starting LDN tonight ,my neurologist willing prescribed > it and said that he had many patients on it,i talked to DR.Skip( > compounding pharmacist) in person and he has found that starting at > 1.5mg for a month then increasing gradually to 3 mg the next month > works very well for people...so thats what i'm doing....i'll let you > know how its working.......i'm newly diagnosed and have not been on any > other meds...just vitamins and diet changes.....also Dr.Skip said to > check his website this Sunday, he'll have some very encouraging > information on there regarding LDN from recent studies that were done, > he is also attending the LDN seminar this Saturday in New York > City....hope all is well with everyone.. > Lynn > Ft Lauderdale > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Starting LDN at 1.5mg is just fine, nothing wrong about that at all, BUT don't stay there permanently. That is too low of a dose to halt progression. Always try to eventually make it to 3.0mg and experiment and try 4.5mg for at least 3 months. If at 4.5mg undue stiffness is a problem for you after 3 months then drop back to 3.0mg. ======= > Good Luck, Lynne. > > Be prepared for someone to write to you and tell you that Skip's Pharmacy is > WRONG...that nothing lower than 3 mg works. Guest guest
Well, you're both right! I think the theory is that there's nothing wrong with STARTING at 1.5 mg; the LDN probably won't have any impact on symptoms or progression, but this gives your body time to adjust to any side effects (which usually last 2 weeks or so for most people). Then after the month, when the side effects subside, move the dose to 3 (or go right to 4.5, and see if that " preferred " dose works for you). 3.0 or 4.5 are the usual doses where people see beneficial effects (assuming LDN will work for you). --- In low dose naltrexone , " Bren " <TwisterAlley2@w...> wrote: > Starting LDN at 1.5mg is just fine, nothing wrong about that at all, BUT don't stay there permanently. Guest guest
my first night on ldn was 1.5 mg. i had experienced ice cold feet for about 2 weeks. within an hour of taking ldn my feet got warm. i also couldn't go to sleep easily the first night and my dreams were vivid. now i.m not saying 1.5 is a high enough dose to halt progression but i do feel it enhanced immune activity to some degree or i wouldn't have noticed a difference. i remember reading somewhere in Dr. Biharis literature that anything lower than 1.75 probably wouldn't work but that does not mean it does nothing. 1.5 is a great way to start so you can ease into the 4.5 or 3.0 without a reaction that might frighten you.i know when my immune system is low, my feet will get cold. it is almost like a warning that i am about to have an exacerbation unless i make some lifestyle changes with diet, stress reduction, etc. good luck with the ldn.kathy [low dose naltrexone] starting LDN tonight:)> hello everyone,> i just wanted to let everyone know that i'm very excited and> encouraged, i'm starting LDN tonight ,my neurologist willing prescribed> it and said that he had many patients on it,i talked to DR.Skip(> compounding pharmacist) in person and he has found that starting at> 1.5mg for a month then increasing gradually to 3 mg the next month> works very well for people...so thats what i'm doing....i'll let you> know how its working.......i'm newly diagnosed and have not been on any> other meds...just vitamins and diet changes.....also Dr.Skip said to> check his website this Sunday, he'll have some very encouraging> information on there regarding LDN from recent studies that were done,> he is also attending the LDN seminar this Saturday in New York> City....hope all is well with everyone..> Lynn> Ft Lauderdale>>>>>>>
