Guest guest
there is a basic blood test that will indicate allergy to soy, nuts, ugggg - two or three other typical allergies - can't remember which ones, maybe eggs. there is another more in depth way of testing. it involves pricking the skin with drops of potential allergens and if the skin reacts then there is an allergy and they know what other things to test for. allergic reactions can be as minor as post nasal drip to drastic changes in behavior right before your eyes to death from anaphylactic shock. i have allergies that cause all three. something that many people prescribe to is ingesting locally made honey in order to aclimate themselves to the surrounding environmental allergies they may have. bees make honey from local flowers which grow in the local environment and is a way to introduce the elements to the body in small doses - similar to the allergy shots that you get at the doctor. i've never heard of swabbing the mouth for allergies - but that would be awesome - less pain than needles. all4cam@... wrote: How are these food allergy tests performed? Do they swab the mouth? I'm not familiar with this as my son has never been tested but for a few common things like peanuts, shrimp etc. Stacey Date: 2007/11/20 Tue PM 06:20:01 CST To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy Subject: Re: Re:looking for support for son with Aspergers My understanding is that there is not a reliable food allergy test. The best to do it is through the process of elimination. We have already done the RAST test. I also have heard of the MRT test, but also heard is not reliable. Are there other tests that have proven reliable? Thanks, Re:looking for support for son with Aspergers > That's great that you are going to see Dr. Rao, ask for food allergy > testing.
