Guest guest
Rhonda--I have the 300 mg of ALA, and did take 2 with each meal to get the 1,200mg. Also, for the Vit B12, 1,000 mcg is the same as 1 mg. So, 5,000 mcgs is just 5 mgs. B12 is not stored, but your body will absorb what it needs, then secret the rest. On a side note, I've also discovered that 1 tbl spoon of Flaxseed Oil contains 6,300mg of ALA (omega-3), 1,750mg of Lioleic Acid (omega-6), and 2,000mg of Oleic Acid (omega-9). I mix this with a Protein powder as a breakfast drink (sometimes with various fruits, juice, honey, etc.) or for lunch. And, 5000-10000mcgs of B12? Don't we pee out B vitamins that are used? I get my 2nd MRI June 7, Tues. I have one brain lesion dxed 2004. Next neuro appt. is June 7 and will see if I get a LDN script so I don't have to crush Revia anymore. I still have pain relief and NO balance problems. Main symptom I feel right now is numbness which I can tolerate as long as all parts function and Fatigue that I'm searching for something to fix. Found a multi that was made for CFS and Fibro that I'm taking along with other stuff. If I can solve the fatigue, I'd be great!Rhonda> > > I have had MS for 13 years (that I am aware of).> > What caused me to consult a physician was due to a> > burning sensation in my right leg. Guest guest
no, 6 a day is what they used in the trials or 1200 mg. it is less expensive through Swanson and r-lipoic is also offered. yes, we urinate our b vitamins out. A D E K are the only ones you can overdose on and create a state of toxicity. 1000mcg of b-12 taken throughout the day will leave a steady amount in your bloodstream. sublingual is as good as injections because of all the blood vessels under the tongue. the Germans (God love them) have done alot of research on this and many other things we Americans benefit from. they are very progressive in healthcare. kathy [low dose naltrexone] Alpha Lipoic/next MRI I started the Alpha Lipoic a month ago and got Super and it's only 200mgs. Guest guest
I actually get lazy sometimes and just write ALA (alpha lipoic acid) as several members of this board have referred to it as such so I assumed everyone knew what I was talking about. however, assuming makes an ass out of you and me, huh? Just teasing!!!! thank you for the correction. I certainly don't want to send the wrong type of info. it is all about helping others. have a great day!!! Guest guest
That's ok Kathy--in general speak...we do tend to refer to ALA as Alpha Lipoic Acid. By the way, I just read the latest edition of the New Horizons newsletter. I was such a proponent of Flax Seed Oil for its ALA benefits until I read the article on Celadrin an (Anti-Inflammatory). This is not a direct quote, but Ms. White writes something to the effect that Flax Oil, because of its inability to properly metabolize ALA, is not the best source, but rather Fish Oil is. Now, I need to figure out if I continue to take Flax Oil, will I overdose when using Fish Oil? If any of you have any experience with this, then by all means, please let me know. Thanks! kathy lintzenich <mykittypaws@...> wrote: I actually get lazy sometimes and just write ALA (alpha lipoic acid) as several members of this board have referred to it as such so I assumed everyone knew what I was talking about. however, assuming makes an ass out of you and me, huh? Guest guest
Hi, I love your attitude . You seem so upbeat and ready to face this challenge head on. I think you are going to do really well in your quest to manage this condition. It is important to have the right balance of EPA and DHA. If you take extra flax on top of the fish caps, it might create an unfavorable ratio of EFA's. My best idea is to take four Krill oil a day. You can obtain it from Swanson and it is a superior form of fish oil with asthaxthin in it which has shown to have a powerful neuroprotective factor and combats oxidative stress. I REALLY BELIEVE it has helped me with my ms. It is one of those 6 or 7 things I do that seemed to have the most positive effect. Feel free to e-mail me privately at any time. I have a newsletter about Krill somewhere that I would be happy to share with everybody. Guest guest
I found the newsletter. It states: The ORAC test results for Neptune Krill Oil was an astounding 378. That means that NKO was found to have 48 times the free radical inhibition of regular fish oil and 34 times that of CoenzymeQ10! This is some powerful stuff!!! Best price on the net is Jarrow. 60 softgels for 22.00.
