Guest guest
Great summary notes from Larry, & Kiki! I can add that both Drs. Gironi & Mir said in our breakout panel on furthering clinical trials, that they feel basic research (animal & in vitro) is still needed to determine the mechanics of WHY ldn works, be it decreasing glutamic acid build up (Agrawal LDN hypothesis), or increasing endorphins, or both. This is usually the first step in research, but they are steaming ahead with the later step, human trials, since it is already so widely used. The basic will just have to catch up with the clinical research at some point, in order to refine the drug and dosage and make it work better. For background on the Agrawal LDN hypothesis interview that Rob Lester did and then reported on at the conference, see the interview at http://www.bostoncure.org:8080/article.pl? sid=05/01/27/1748256 & mode=nested For those of you who collaborated on the surverys at http://LDNers.org watch for follow up on collecting case histories to further the research effort. The only other thing I have is snapshots from the conference, and a BIG thank you to the the Gluck family for organizing this, and all who attended and presented. Pictures: http://ldners.org/LDN_conf/ (if you have more snapshots send them and I will add tothe album) SammyJo's slides summarizing the surveys & my MS/LDN history: http://ldners.org/SJW_LDN.htm (neither of these are in Flash, so OK for WebTV)
