Guest guest
I've kind of been warned off from ingesting anything with charcoal as it interferes with absorption and this is something DSers surely don't need. If your gas odor is bothering you, I'd suggest looking into probiotics. Many DSers find Primal Defense Ultra (refrigerated only - not through the mail as the organisms live better when bought refrigerated) works well in cutting down on the smell. I'd also take a good look at what I'm eating. That should help. White flour products, other carbs, sugars. All could be influencing how much gas you're having and might help with the odor. However, many DSers do have a different odor postop than preop (stool and gas). This is just part of the trade-off. Best of luck. A. ---------------- Duodenal Switch/Lap -- Drs. Guest guest
Gas is greatly reduced through by taking probiotics without a doubt. The other thing that is greatly reduced is the thickness of your wallet. Probiotics are nothing more than the bacteria found in yogurt with live active cultures. Some have more types than others. Read the label. You can even find “probiotic” yogurt (that’s really redundant). I actually found a large container on sale for $1.99. It has enough for a week of flatulence therapy. You will also find your stools firm up quite a bit. Eat a half cup with your meals. The cost is reasonable. Health improves, and gas is reduced significantly. I’ve had this conversation with Dr. K and he agrees. Happy Thanksgiving! Nick
