Guest guest
Are you Debbie? I feel your pain and frustration. God... some of our bodies are just beyond belief stubborn in insisting we be overweight. You asked " what am I doing wrong " ...well since we don't know what you ARE doing it is difficult to answer that question. I have a DS friend who did a good job eating right for her DS and she was moderately exercising..yet complained of slow weightloss and was very frustrated. I spent the day with her and found out she had 3-4 Carmel machalaties (lol whatever it's called) Starbucks coffee's with extra Carmel. I looked it up and told her she was consuming 3-4 THOUSAND sugar calories a day and she was lucky she had lost any weight at all. Sooo, I say to you...look very carefully at any sugar..carb calories your are eating/drinking and try to reduce/eliminate them. Also...look and anything you may be taking to reduce odor/gas...sometimes these products contain enzymes that basically undo your ds malabsorption. Sometimes medications can make folks very resistant to losing weight. You have been through sooo much to lose weight. You may just be one of those unlucky folks that have to be extra, extra deligent to keep even what you did lose OFF. Frustrating...depressing...heck yes!!!!! You are not alone, there are several folks whose weightloss fell far short of where they hoped...or even 'needed'. But I gotta say...I understand their frustration but when I look at them I see a much more mobile, healthy person...not all they wanted.. but there is some blessing there. Don't feel bad about expressing your frustration. Perhaps somewhere along the line something can be figured out...sometimes it just helps to vent. Hugs Jo > So, I had my revision in February, 2008....lost 57 lbs.....and am now back up 15 lbs.....I knew I would not lose as much as an original DS....but I never really lost much....had some blood tests - my thyroid is underactive, so GP upped my thyroid meds. What am I doing wrong? I exercise, although not as much lately due to being tired all of the time. I am guessing that is the thyroid. I am now past that " honeymoon " phase and very depressed. I guess I am doomed to be overweight the rest of my life. >
