Guest guest
Hi All; This is my first time here. I'm a 63 year old male diagnosed with MS Nov 2002 when I was started on avonex, had some side effects flu like but, started to have noticeably bad side effects with my last three shots which I stopped Dec 2004, first of my last three I noticed more weakness, numbness and slight depression, second each symptom got worse where I had a hard time getting out of bed, third shot much worse where I couldn't get out of bed by myself for three day's. I stopped my shots and saw my doctor, she thought I just couldn't tolerate the shot's so put me on 80 mg zocor, took me a while to recover from the avonex but feeling some what better. What I don't understand is the MRI'S I've had show very few lesions, my last appointment my Dr said, it appears I have one old lesion or scare tissue from a accident in my neck spinal cord which could be causing all my problems, I'm in a wheelchair but work out at a gym five days a week so I can transfer from scooter to chair easier. Like I said, I'm a 63 year old male, 6' 2', 212 lbs and my muscles haven't atrophied, have much strength but can't control it, WHY? I just don't seem to be getting satisfactory answers to my questions. As for my general health, the doctors tell me if it weren't for my MS I would be in excellent health. If anyone can make since out of what I'm trying to say, please respond with any suggestions. Thank you, Jim
Guest guest
hHI! YOU CAN HAVE MANY SYMPTOMS WITH NO LESIONS OR MANY LESIONS WITH NO SYMPTOMS. A SPINAL TAP ISN'T EVEN A CONCLUSIVE DIAGNOSIS. HAVE YOU BEEN TESTED FOR LYME OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT MIMICS MS? DID YOU READ TODAY ABOUT THE EXTENSIVE ANTIOXIDANT PROGRAM THAT TURNED THE COURSE OF A MANS MS AROUND? IT IS A TOTAL LIFESTYLE CHANGE. LDN, EXERCISE, SUPPLEMENTS GALORE AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN AFFORD LIKE MASSAGE. EAT WELL AND BE POSITIVE AS HARD AS IT SEEMS. I REMEMBER SAYING ONE TIME BEFORE MY MS HAD MANIFESTED ITSELF " DEAR GOD, WHY DO I HAVE ALL THESE INTENSE FEELINGS? WHY CAN'T YOU JUST MAKE ME NUMB?" NOW HOW IS THAT FOR GETTING WHAT YOU ASK FOR? POINT BEING, I USE TO LOVE SO DEEPLY, I FELT IT WAS DETRIMENTAL TO MY WELL BEING. JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT. TAKE MEGA AMOUNTS OF FISH OIL . IT IS SO GOOD FOR DEPRESSION AND SOMETIMES WE DON'T EVEN KNOW WE ARE DEPRESSED. KATHY [low dose naltrexone] Avonex Hi All; This is my first time here.
