Guest guest
Thankyou Gerald for remembering and writing better than I, the theory of LDN. - In a message dated 5/4/05 6:38:55 PM Pacific Daylight Time, grollason@... writes: Hi Annette, -Thought someone might have clarified this by now, but as they haven`t, (unless I missed it) -here goes! (Firstly, I know almost zilch about Wellbutrin, this is about the function of LDN:) As I understand it, in simple terms, the theory of LDN`s function goes something like this: LDN does not "hold back endorphin production"! LDN briefly prevents the body`s take up of endorphins that are being or have been produced by the body, this effectively "tricks" the body into "thinking" that there is an endorphin shortage, so to compensate for this apparent shortage, it produces more! With LOW DOSE Naltrexone, this blocking of endorphin take up is only brief (-a few hours?) & then the body is able to utilize to advantage the extra endorphins that it has been stimulated to produce. So apparently, LDN temporally holds back the take up of endorphins thereby triggering their increased production. (Further, the 9pm-3am window for taking LDN is presented because apparently this is when endorphin production is at it`s height & hence this strategy is most effective.) So far, in terms of it`s stated function, it`s not apparent to me why there should be any intrinsic problem with also taking Wellbutrin, but speaking as someone who is generally very wary of taking any pharmaceuticals, I would want to know a lot more about it before before I would even consider actually putting it in my body! On a more natural note! -I have just ordered a book on endorphins, it received a favourable review in the latest issue of New Pathways, the bi-monthly magazine of the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre.(MSRC): http://www.mrsc.co.uk/ The book is called "The Endorphin Effect" by Bloom.( pbl.-Platkus) In it, I`m not expecting him to talk specifically about LDN usage, but I am hopeful that it may throw a little more light on this shadowy, almost ethereal world of endorphins & give some incentive & guidance on how to live in a more generally "endorphin friendly" way! May we all Smile & Be Happy!.............(-So looking after those nice li`l endorphins!) Gerald

Gerald [low dose naltrexone] holding back endorphin production Hello, I am on Wellbutrin, which is supposed to encourage endorphins. Won't LDN be a problem, as, if it is holding back endorphin production, it will have a counter productive effect. Anyone know anything about this? If so, thanks in advance for the feedback.
