Hi RK,

Dr. Bihari recommends 4.5mg of LDN for all auto-immune diseases. If a person has trouble with that dose he goes down to 3 mg anything lower won't do the job. Hope all is well,

Dr. Bihari raised my dose, from 3.0 to 4.5, also. He told me that

with all of his MS patients, he was moving them up to 4.5.

Thanks a bunch for that info - he should know.

Was your dosage raised because you were still having MS attacks ???How does one decide if the dosage is correct?

Luigi,

I wasn't having any MS attacks, I don't know why he raised my dose.

He just said that he was putting and raising the dose, for all of his

MS patients, to 4.5, and to call him, if I was having a problem with

4.5. Which, thankfully, I haven't!

, this is news to me, because Dr. Bihari just renewed my LDN

prescription for 3 mg. Where did you get the information that he was

moving all his MS patients up to 4.5 mg? A phone consultation?

I have a phone consult scheduled with him for January 9th and I will

ask about this and report back here.

I take 3.0, I tried 4.5 twice, after 300 days of 3.0 I tried 4.5 for 38 and then went back. Tried 4.5 again a few months later and after 12 dropped back to 3.0 Never tried 4.5 again.

,

Dr. Bihari told me that, after I had been on 3.0, for a little over

a year, and he renewed my prescription to 4.5. Ask him, maybe he will

tell you why.

I think that he would like everyone to try to be on 4.5mg if they seem to be doing well on it. He definitely does not have a problem with people taking 3.0mg if that is what works for them.

;

I too would like to know why a person would switch from 3mg/day to 4.5mg/day. In his 1991 patent Dr. Bihari recommends 1.5mg/day to 3mg/day as optimol dosage. Are we missing something here? 4.5mg/day seems to be popular with doctors but I haven't found out why.

I will watch this site after Jan 9th. Merry Christmas!!

Luigi, when I first began taking LDN three years ago, Dr. Bihari

told me that about 75% of his patients tolerated 4.5 mg very well,

which is why he prescribed it to me. (I ended up on 3 after a few

days, because of intolerable stiffness.)

Merry Christmas to you too.

===========

Dr. Bihari has upped that

dosage since that

patent. As more research

has been done by Bihari,

he has found that the

optimal dose for an adult

is 4.5mg and he has also

found that doses below

3.0mg will not halt MS

disease progression.

This is what I gained

from Dr. Bihari via a

phone consultation in

2004. Smaller doses less

than 3.0mg may work for

some diseases but not MS.

BRENDA - GOOD WARNING!! ldn would be blamed for the effects of the overdose. from what i understand those higher doses are for alcohol and drug addicts; in fact, higher than that!!

Re: [low dose naltrexone] ldn dose

Hi Don,Some people believe that doses of LDN higher than 4.5 are alright for short periods when treating a flare-up of symptoms. When taken on a long-term basis, however, I believe they will be counterproductive.Best regards,Dudley Delany
