Hi, my daughter is PDD-NOS too. Have you looked into your local Girl

Scout Council offerings?

Our GS council in Texas offers day camps, twilight camps [6-9 PM for

working parents] and full one-week resident camps in the summer. I'm sure

yours

will have lots of opportunities too. The camps are run by counselors who

are teen or adult scouts themselves, and [in our council, at least] the

policy on men is -that he can only be on the property if he is constantly

escorted by an adult woman who is not related to him. [that covers repairmen,

or special guest activities like archery taught by a man on campus]

GS policy is that ALL girls are welcome to be scouts, and if your daughter

will need assistance you can have a conference with the camp director

before hand. If you are available to volunteer, you could probably register as

an adult scout and volunteer at the camp if you would feel better. You

would be working at something nearby, where you would see her while she

enjoys camp.

If your daughter isn't a scout, it's a good idea to register her as an

" Individually Registered Girl " [used to be called " ttes " ]. That way if

the camp fills up before they open registration to non-Girl Scouts she won't

get shut out. It only costs $12 to register as a GS (that provides

primary medical insurance for your daughter while she's in any scouting

situation

for one scouting year). She doesn't have to belong to a troop to register.

diagnosed with PDD-NOS. I have been looking for summer activities for her and

am having trouble finding a range. She has done Camp Giant Steps for the

past 2 years but they have started integrating boys and girls of all ages

during the day and I am very uncomfortable with that. Does anyone know of any

other camps besides Miriam and Giant Steps? I appreciate any input. Thanks!
