Well, this week did not turn out at all like I expected! Earlier

this week, I was approached by a headhunter about a really great job

opportunity, so I've spent the week quickly updating my resume,

interviewing (twice), etc. If I get the job, great (and it would

mean a nice increase). If not, I'm happy where I am.

But this was my first " real " week of BFL (after being sick my first

week), and I've had absolutely no time to work out since Tuesday.

Monday and Tuesday were pretty normal, and I actually worked out

Sunday because my son wanted to go to the gym.

Food-wise, I've fallen back into old habits, which is skipping meals

and then grabbing whatever is handy. I haven't eaten really badly,

but I haven't eaten BFL. I did stop by the health food store and

grabbed some Detour bars, so I've eated a few of those on the run.

And I bought a roast chicken to munch on, but I've eaten more carbs

than I should be, I know.

I'm tempted to say " I'll just start over Monday, " but I'm guessing

you all won't let me do that? Am I right?

Nope, no starting over. Fill out the journal the best you can and get

back on track. Make sure you plan ahead next weeek!

Good luck with the interviews for the new position, hope you will get

it!!

Thanks for the boost (or is it kick?) :) . I had a plan, but it

included time to prepare my meals for the next day and time to cook

dinner, and the last two days, I haven't had either. I also haven't

had a lunch hour because I took time to go interview.

What do all of you do on days like that? If you absolutely have to

go to a drive through, where do you go and what do you order? I did

discover that Baja Fresh regular tacos are a good balance of protein

and carb if you only eat one of the tortillas (each taco comes with

two soft corn tortillas -- not fried).

What other options are there?

Grilled chicken sandwich from anywhere --- preferably throw away the

bun and add an apple or other authorized carb. If you have to eat

the bun, go for only half.

Susie,

Start over every day if you have to. I've had days where I started over

every meal. It doesn't matter in the long run. Just never quit. You can

only fail if you quit!

Now, get at it girl! No excuses.

Seriously, someone once said (paraphrased) that if your child was being held

captive and as long as you did BFL by the book - they would be fine... how

important would it be and how well would you do?

Get that mental picture in your head and you'll have little trouble.

We're pulling for you... but YOU have to pull for you too! You can do it.

If I can do it - A-N-Y-O-N-E can do it.

I expect a good report from you tomorrow! Ok?

Errrrr, NOPE! We won't let you start over. Life doesn't deal

out " Do Over " cards, my new friend. :) My favorite anecdote/metaphor

on the starting-over thing is this....

Say you walk out your front door this morning to get into your car

and go to work. Halfway to your car you trip and fall down. Do you

get up, go back to the front door and start all over so you can " do

it right this time " ??? Nope. You get up, brush yourself off and

KEEP GOING. See what I mean? ;)

Just because one tire goes flat, don't go poke holes in the other

three. Fix the flat and get back on the road.

Yeah, well... I'll hold you to it! I've got a lady on the other list who I

made give me her phone number.

If I don't hear from her every couple of days - I will call! ;) Hey,

whatever works, ya know?

Maybe I should start a service...

" talk " to ya tomorrow!

I definitely have days like this, but don't usually have a problem with the

food. I have trouble making my workouts on those days. I have gotten to be

regular with food that I am prepared almost always. It has become the rare case

for me to be caught without my BFL food. And that is because I got into the

habit of keeping lots of BFL choices in my house. I keep as staples: canned

Albacore tuna and white chicken breast, lots of boneless, skinless chicken

breast (freeze), fresh salmon, baby carrots, variety of green veggies for

cooking

and eating raw, apples, pears, grapes, strawberries, natural applesauce, 2%

cottage cheese, salad greens, Ken's Lite Olive Oil Vinagrette, and protein

powder and protein bars. I make batches of things for the week and put in

ziplock

bags or Glad disposable plastic wear. I also keep water at my office always.

I have gone to 's and got a chicken breast and baked potato with

broccoli only, and water.

Thanks Jen B. I was hoping you would post this one. Cuz if you didn't...I

would have!!! This one anecdote really showed me an error in my thinking about

the program when I first started. I was trying to do this 12-week thing with

no errors. So every time I messed up it would make me feel like I was

supposed to start again. This anecdote helped me realize that I am STRIVING to

achieve, but that this involves a process that includes experiencing mistakes.

So

now I am much more forgiving, albeit a little frustrated or disappointed,

when I miss a workout or meal.

Another analogy that works is olympic and professional ice skaters, if they fall

down, they pick right up where they left off. They can't start over.
