Guest guest
Kathy, I found your 18 month story (post 25591) very interesting, especially since it flies in the face of nearly everything else I've read about using Naltrexone in its low dose form for MS. Your ex- perience is the first I've read about for someone who started on such a high (25 mg) dose. How many days, before starting LDN (4.5 mgs) did you continue taking 25mg Naltrexone? One of the other things about your experience that I'm curious about is the fact that you were in the middle of what sounds to me like a protracted exacerbation. I read somewhere in this group about people's belief that LDN seems to work best when one is in the middle of an exacerbation. For me Solumedrol doesn't do squat to relieve my symptoms unless I'm near the start of a sudden exacerbation, then it's effect has seemed nearly miraculous! … I don't like put-ting all that chemical into my system. … 3 or 4.5mgs of LDN sounds far less traumatic to my liver and adrenals than 1,000mgs of Solumedrol X 5 days in a row! So what does everyone think of starting at 25mgs and dropping to a maintenance dose af-terwards? I want to give LDN a try. Reading your experience leaves me a bit wary. 25 or 3.5 mgs to start? … I think I just need to jump in the pool and start swimming! -- > Hi Everyone, > > I am writing to tell my 18 month story. I was having a major exaserbation that had me going from a cane to a walker to going to get a wheelchair. > > I came across the www.low dose naltrexone.org site. It sounded very promising so I took the info to my GP. He knows I hate doing pills so he agreed and prescribe the 50mg pill. I tried cutting it into 8 pieces but couldn't. So I took 25mg of Naltrexone in the morning. > > I was the same that day. But the next morning I got out of bed and walked to the washroom without my cane or walker. I couldn't believe it and figured it was just because I wasn't quite awake yet. It was 6:30 am and I always slept till 12:00. Then I noticed I wasn't tired any more so I had shower and got dressed. I didn't have as much pain anymore. It was 98% gone and the 2% could be taken care of with asprin. It stopped the exaserbation faster than Solumedrol did because I had just done it and it didn't work! > > I stayed up that day until 11:30 pm with no naps. This is how my days are now. I wake up between 6:30 - 8:00am and can stay awake all day still. During my exaserbation I had to quit cooking because I couldn't remember turning on the stove. Now I can cook again! My grandson wass born 1 week before I started LDN and I was afraid to hold him for fear of dropping him. Now I can hold him and chase him. It has made life worth living again. My head was buzzing too much from neurons refiring that I couldn't take it anymore. I found a compounding pharmacy, which Windsor only has 1, and started taking 4.5mg and that is the dose I stayed at. I can walk unassisted and only use a cane at night becase of Optic Neuritis. > > Well that is my story. Sorry it was so long but figured I had better share it with every one. > > > > > Hope all is well, > > Kathy > __________________________________________________ >
