Guest guest
Hi all, It’s time for me to do my 10 month update. First let me say I’m a 31 year old male Dx’d in October 2001. At that point I had a slurred speech problem that went away before I was diagnosed. I had no problems in 2002 and then in mid 2003 I began to have problems. In January of 2004 I was laid off because of my many problems doing my job such as poor balance, bladder urgency/frequency problems, deteriorating vision, and deteriorating handwriting. In March of 2004 I began to use a wheelchair due to extremely weak leg strength. At that point I began to read everything I could on what was being done to help the MS of others. I stumbled upon Remidyfind.com. I read about something called Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). What was this? The more I read the more I liked the idea of it. I asked my doctor about it and without batting an eyelash she said “NO! It’s horrible stuff.” Why was I told no so quickly without a discussion? Many people were on this medication and it was working well for them. I thought I deserved more than a simple “no”. Long story short I found a doctor who would prescribe it and began LDN on 23 July 2004. Within the first 2 weeks my muscle spasms went away. My bladder urgency was still not working correct but, I could deal with that with my other symptoms getting better. Within a few days I got out of the wheelchair (I was in the wheelchair 5 months total) but, was using the walls a lot to aid my walking. At this point 10 months later, I mow my own grass using a self propelled mower. I still have balance problems but, (not nearly as bad as in the beginning) I work hard to overcome and change that any way I can. I still have muscle spasms but, they are not as bad as in the beginning. Also, my “brain fog” has gone away completely. The problems I have with my vision have lessoned ever so slightly but I plan to see an ophthalmologist soon. My legs are what stopped me from driving and my eyes are what keep me from driving. I also use a pedometer to keep track of how much walking I do each day. I tend to walk about 2 to 2.5 miles a day. It’s all around the house walking as I don’t get out because I can’t drive. I also exercise 3 times a week to help keep up my strength. Lastly, LDN has not only given me my life back but given me hope that I began to loose as I began to decline quickly taking the medication (CRAB drugs) that my doctor prescribed. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
, Glad to hear that youare doing well. Have you thought of using "Hand Controls" for driving? They are simple and relatively inexpensive. Regards, Tom [low dose naltrexone] My 10 month update Hi all, It’s time for me to do my 10 month update.
