Guest guest
The difference observed between men and women (men are more likely to find that 3 mg is more effective, 4.5mg for women) is likely to be caused by hormonal differences but there is no hard evidence. The paper referred to did not use LDN but 50 mg, so the results should not be applied directly to LDN. Comments on gender differences like 'women are high maintenance' are fun to read, thanks . Kind regards, Mark (Pharmacist from Oxford England)
Guest guest
There are several metabolic and physiological differences between men and women which contribute to women recording a significantly higher endogenous etoh level than men as documented by the UAE study, The physiology or body composition of men is different to that of women. Men have a larger proportion of body water than women into which the alcohol rapidly distributes from the blood, that is, the absorbed alcohol is diluted more in the body fluids of men than it is in that of women (Marshall et al. 1983, Van Thiel et al. 1988). In addition, women have a larger proportion of fat, 33% compared with 12% that increases with age, into which the alcohol distributes slowly from their blood. Second, men are able to deal with a greater metabolic load of alcohol than women, because they generally have more of the alcohol-degrading liver enzymes, alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase, than do women. These alcohol-degrading enzymes are also more active in men than in women. Unmetabolised endogenous alcohol continues to circulate in the blood to the body organs and tissues, passing through the liver causing more and higher false positive EtG."short" urethra has nothing to do with anything imho...regards,rdanramo <danramo@...> wrote: On prior posting it has been suggested that most of false positive etg's are in females. Theories have been proposed regarding metabolism of estrogen, lipid metabolism, ethyl esters and up regulation of liver microsomes during menstrual cycles. These theories hurt my head with there complexity. Mother Nature does not work this way. The reason women have a much higher rate of false positives is because women have a shorter uretera. This makes it much more likely for women to have microbes in the bladder(10%) and guess what, that rate rises during mentrual period. I was able to convince my own Board. If I cannot convince you and the knowledgeable members of this group then how can I convince a judge. If these false positives are caused by incidental exposure and differences in metabolism then raise the threshold but if they are being caused by E.coli and other microbes then there is no technological fix. Guest guest
I understand the differences in our metabolism, ect...I don't buy the short urethra explanation. Give up sex?? Are you kidding? Ha, just a light moment with a horrific reality...I have a close personal friend on the CA BOP he had to recuse himself from case in fact. When I told him of the abominations occuring to me, he (2 years ago)sent out the inspector's on a fact finding quest. He looked into the whole Maximus program, but everyone kept there mouth shut for fear of retribution. But this time around, the same people are complaining to the same inspectors. The diversion program for the CA BOP is required to report results to the Board in the sunset report. The last one was done in 2002 or 2003. The sunset report is supposed to be done every 2 years, but the Board got legislation passed last year to make the reports due only every 4 years. No one can touch Maximus or the CA BOP because of the money they bring to the state. According to many Rph's I know in the nation, the whole Board changed when the past ex director came in and was charged to bring the coffers up and stop being in the red. So, she started fining pharmacies for having tissue laying on the counter(a joke)thousands of $$$$ and brought the board into a green making subsidy. Liz if your going to the governor, wait for me, I'm in with ya. > > On prior posting it has been suggested that most of false > positive > > etg's are in females. Guest guest
Tracey,Sent a long letter to the Governor, it was referred to consumer affairs and basically the BRN was found to be OK. Am responding the the response point by point and sending it back to the Governor. Send your letters to the Governor, Constituent Affairs Office. If we keep inundating them, they will have to at the very least listen!
Guest guest
I drafted a letter to Shriver(to hit the female part of it), but my girlfriends and I never sent it. Maybe we should get a copy of your letter, and send it along with ours, what do you guys think? Check out this web page ethylglucuronide.homestead.com that will give you all the answers about the chemical properties of ETG. > > Tracey, > Sent a long letter to the Governor, it was referred to consumer affairs and basically the BRN was found to be OK.
