Hi again! I thought some of you might be interested in this follow-up email that I just received back from the NMSS...

Rae in Michigan

==========

Rae, Rose passed along your concerns about naltrexone research. Yes, feedback from people with MS is extremely important, but the process of developing a treatment for MS requires studies both in animal models to show initial safety and effectiveness, and then in human studies involving numerous people, controls, and quality assurances such as blinding and randomization. It is the responsibility of the investigators who believe that naltrexone can be proven effective to initiate these studies, and it sounds from the interview with Dr. Agrawal like that process might be underway. As we mention in our statement on naltrexone, the Society is open to considering any high quality and relevant research protocol.
