You might want to check the prices at www.drugstore.com I have been using them for about three years and I have never found anyone that could beat their prices. By the way Rite Aid who has about the highest prices is owed by the same corporation as www.drugstore.com that is one of the reasons we choose to try it and have not had any problems with them so far but do not waste your money on having a quicker delivery time since they seem to get my meds here in same amount of time even when I have paid to have them here in I think it was three days. They do take about a week now, where as they use to have them to me much sooner but I have seen the site talked about on some shows one was the O'Reilley Factor so I think they are getting busy!!

Hope this helps you out!!

Peace,

Sherry

Hi, everybody :o)

My HMO changed from a generic minocycline made by Biocraft to some other brand that doesn't work so well for me. Today I called around to locate a minocycline by either Biocraft or Lederle (sp). Prices really vary for 100 100 mg capsules. Rite-Aid wanted $129, Fred Meyer's $90, and Safeway $65, with a ten percent discount for seniors--anyone 55 and older. That's a big spread.

Now the question: This capsule contains the pellitized. Is that the right one?

Thanks in advance,

is what I am on also. Have they just changed it? I've been herxing from

the generic I have been on so I assume it has been working. I would be

interested to know what you discover. Thanks-

Thanks. The one my pharmacy uses is Rambaxy(ohm). I called around to other pharms, and could only find Teva,, or Global. No one said Minocin.

Brand name MINOCIN was preferred rather than generic minocycline.

Teva, , Ranbaxy, and Global are all manufacturers of generic

drugs; if they produce a minocycline product, it won't have a brand

name--it would just be generic minocyline.

Wyeth makes non-generic minocycline, their brand name for it is

Minocin. (Their predecessor company, Lederle, invented it, I

believe). Biggest difference is that the Wyeth Minocin is

pelletized, so it is supposedly dissolved in a more controlled manner

in your stomach.

My doc wanted me on Minocin; I was for a few months, then my RX

insurance changed and it would have cost me $200 / month for the non-

generic, so I switched to the generic minocycline (only a $10 copay--

big difference!).

Hi :

First, you should know that Lederle was bought by Wyeth, so the non-

generic would be Minocin from Wyeth.

Second, I can't say that I've noticed any difference between the two,

although in my case, my docs have never been sure what I've got--

Lyme, MS or something else. So I'm almost taking it as a preventive

for MS, just in case I have that, it ought to keep it from getting

worse (and yes, I'm also taking LDN).

Third, for MS, I remember the test results showed that the test group

still had some relapses during the first 6-months of treatment, but

none during the second 6-months of treatment, so it clearly takes a

few months to build up in your system and be effective.

Finally, looking on drugstore.com, I see the following for 100 mg

minocycline:

Generic 90 capsules for $58

Wyeth Minocin 90 capsules for $315

Since you take it twice a day, that's a 45 day supply.

So the generic is $1.30/day; the brand name is $7.00/day. Big

difference.

Good luck getting your scrip!
