Guest guest
Wow, that is wonderful! And thanks for the reminder about special kids given to special parents. Sometimes I dont feel so special about it! Are you sure there isnt anything else you have done, biomed-ically, etc..? what other symptoms were you dealing with? My daughter is non-verbal, somewhat agressive, and a few other things... -- About my little Miracle Girl... A year or so ago I posted here to let other parents know that my daughter had undergone a miraculous transformation in which most of her Autism symptoms simply disappeared, including an extreme case of social anxiety. We seem to identified specifically what solved that for our daughter. Supplements called Kirkman " Children's Chewable Multi-Vitamin/Mineral Wafer with Xylitol " . We ran out about a week ago and were broke, and several days later as I was in the doctor's office w/my daughter waiting out in the waiting room like she does every month, we suddenly got a knock on the door and a nurse told us " We have a crying little girl out here " . My daughter got overwhelmed when a lady came in and sat down in the waiting room. She hasn't done that since we started these supplements. That kind of social anxiety was completely gone, until we ran out. We're reordered and will have it today or tomorrow. I'll let you know if that social anxiety goes away again when we resume daily doses of this supplement. Special kids are given to special parents. Never forget that. ;-) Don

Guest guest
What we did one year ago were these things: I had been praying over her/with her every day since we got her diagnosis, specifically that the Lord would fill us with His Holy Spirit and give us the power to say and do the things He had for us today. We also prayed for His hedge of protection for us and for all of our friends and family. She started singing with me last year at this time, on stage in church and at Celebrate Recovery meetings (Christian 12 Step community). We started her on Revitapops, which are B12 suckers, one per day. We started her on those supplements. We weren't sure what worked, or if it was a combination of things. What we know now is that when she stopped taking the supplements, her social anxiety came back. I'm telling you, she couldn't even talk sometimes, she had such social anxiety. She couldn't even say " Hi " back to her own family. When we did those 4 things above, she suddenly was saying goodbye to everyone at church and at CR meetings, yelling across the room to people she had NEVER said one word to to say " Bye ! " and " Bye Pastor ! " . It was phenomenal! It still is. She's still openly gregarious now, not over the top, but bubbly and friendly. She's always been sweet but had too much anxiety to even say hello back to friends or ask someone to play. Now she charges out to the playground and joins whoever is playing tetherball. Used to be she would only stand by her classroom door, waiting for the bell to ring. We learned to play Hangman with her when she couldn't talk to us, which was oftentimes once or twice a day, or more. We haven't had to play Hangman since we made these changes. It's miraculous, what's happened to her. It was just notable to see that when we stopped the supplements (we ran out and couldn't afford them for a couple weeks), her social anxiety came back. My daughter has always been very sweet and timid, but now she's not afraid in social situations. Not aggressive, but assertive. That alone is a miracle! For 11 years we never used that word to describe her, ever. She's 12 now, and just starting to move into puberty. We're praying every day that puberty goes smoothly for her. So far, so good. Her tears are coming a little more quickly, but that's the only change we've noticed lately. I can't wait for that dang supplement to arrive! It will be here tomorrow! Don > > Wow, that is wonderful! Guest guest
FYI The reason we prayed specifically for the power to say and do the things He had for us, is because she couldn't do that. She couldn't speak up. She couldn't take action, even when she desperately wanted to. So we prayed that she would be filled with His Spirit and His power so that she could say and do those things God put in front of her each day. It worked. She is able to say and do those things now, without timidity or social anxiety. I praise God for that. :-D > > > > Wow, that is wonderful! Guest guest
Hi and Amy: Are your daughters computer savvy? Do they use a computer? I'm just asking because I know there are many ways to communicate without words and computers are just one way. Thanks, Don > > My daughter with severe Autism is 13 and my other daughter is 11 with > Aspergers.
