University of Michigan Autism and Communication Disorders Center is offering the

following early intervention studies:

The Early Social Interaction Project (ESI) is a research study providing

assessment and early intervention for young children at risk for Autism Spectrum

Disorders (ASD) and their families.

Families that can participate:

•Those with children 16-20 months of age whose parents have concerns about

their child's development.

Your family may be eligible to participate if you are willing to:

•Participate in parent education classes and child playgroups

•Participate in weekly home and clinical intervention sessions

•Allow intervention activities to be videotaped

•Provide child with 25 hours per week of engaged time

ESI offers:

•Early intervention based on state-of-the art evidence

•Consultation and referrals

•Monthly monitoring of child progress through evaluations

•Programs and evaluations are at no cost to participating families

The First Words (FW) project is a research project providing assessment for very

young children to learn more about social and communication development in very

young children.

Families that can participate:

•Those with children 12-24 months of age that might be experiencing a

language delay.

Your family may be eligible to participate if you are willing to:

•Parents will be asked to complete a brief checklist about their child's

development (takes about 20 minutes).

•We may invite you and your child to complete a more in-depth questionnaire,

and/or come to our center for a free assessment if you meet eligibility

requirements.

First Words offers:

•All services associated with this research are free of charge.
